Efforts like these create the perfect opportunity for Congressional Democrats to demand statehood for DC. Just point to the absurdity of Congress’s time being spent on micromanaging the classrooms in a single, medium sized city.
NEWS: Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Florida) has a new bill to require the U.S. flag be displayed in all D.C. school classrooms and mandate the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the day, though students could opt out. "We should be teaching kids why America is worth loving," she says.
I gasped in horror multiple times in reading this, and then immediately looked up how far I live from a nuclear reactor.
A DOGE staffer convened a meeting with Department of Energy officials to discuss the future of nuclear power and downplayed the risk of radiation exposure at nuclear test sites: “They are testing in Utah. … I don’t know, like 70 people live there.” (Published March)
At least when they forced National Airport to be renamed after the other President that fired air traffic controllers, they didn’t force those same air traffic controllers to honor him in the airport codes.
CNN: “The FAA is alerting air traffic controllers nationwide that Palm Beach International Airport’s three-letter identifier changes overnight from PBI to DJT as the airport is officially renamed Donald J. Trump International Airport.” @cnn.com

Every disgusting scandal and reveal is another opportunity to take stock and wonder how you might have been drawn into something unseemly. The way we view politicians and parties is detrimental to democracy and it’s time we recognized that and made a change for the better.

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.
We need court reform now. This is a disgrace.
The outcome is thus: 5–4 that the Constitution protects birthright citizenship for the children of all immigrants. 6–3 that Trump's order is unlawful (because Kavanaugh says it violates a statute, NOT the 14th Amendment.) www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

“The Reflecting Pool story cannot get any stupider” say the skeptics. Ha ha, wrong again.
“Loitering is not permitted in this area. Please proceed to a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation,” a surveillance machine tells a small cluster of National Guard members as they patrol the fenced off Reflecting Pool in the rain.
The bill that does this has to prohibit the use of mandatory arbitration clauses and class action waivers. Unless we want the highways full of cars with huge safety defects that the manufacturers can keep hidden (like Tesla does already)
I feel it’s sort of underrated the extent to which a Dem Congress and/or states could (1) absolutely destroy car dealerships as a business, and (2) this would cripple a lot of GOP state and local parties

We are not angry enough--a whistleblower provided evidence a DOGE brat stole social sec data & sold it to a Palantir contractor. Our data is used to sell services back to the govt at taxpayer expense for big profits. That is OUR data. Instead of investigating the whisteblower is threatened 😠
Terror and retribution are a core part of how the Trump administration has governed. DOGE whistleblower had threatening note taped to his door and his brakes cut after Elon Musk accused him of lying. www.wired.com/story/he-ble...

Add to the Project 2029 to do list a plan for how to rehabilitate DOJ so that it can ethically and competently prosecute this administration’s many crimes.
/7 This encapsulates how Trumpism and Trumpist prosecutors have destroyed, probably for a generation at least, the reputation of DoJ and federal prosecutors.

In a sane world being “tough on crime” would mean unwavering support for more money and power to CFPB and FTC to protect people from increasingly pervasive crimes like pig butchering, identity theft, and illegal gambling and investment schemes. Not overcrowding federal prisons for the benefit of CVS
In a response to the long-debunked "retail theft epidemic," the House voted 348 to 60 for a bill that would exacerbate mass incarceration by sweeping more low-level crime into the federal system and exacerbate the criminalization of poverty. TY to the 59 Democrats who voted NO (see below).
Team Bulldozer, but if it were possible to prevent the next GOP administration from undoing this and turning into into a museum of lies, then maybe.
Dems running for president in 2028 should consider pledging to replace Trump's ballroom with a museum devoted to American democracy and all our struggles over it. For good measure, let's throw in an exhibit about Jan 6. END newrepublic.com/article/2101...

This is correct. There is no future of democratic self government in the US with an unreformed Supreme Court. The Court is riddled with corruption and abuses of power and rooting out that corruption is a sine qua non of civic democracy in the United States.
Again - the Roberts #SCOTUS is the Hormuz problem for Democrats or anyone concerned about democracy in U.S. It doesn’t matter what agenda Dems have, they’d be negligent if they don’t plan to act on an all out push to reform, rebalance (expand) to rein in the MAGA Court when they get back in power.

One quick thought is that in recent decisions in Trump’s favor there’s a lot of talk about the government automatically facing irreparable harm when its policies are blocked but here all the talk from Roberts is the irreparable harm facing those challenging the plan.

Hegseth talks like how you’d imagine the husband in that Peloton ad talks. We are all her now.
Hegseth: "Some in the press can't stop. Allow me to make suggestions. People look at the TV and they see banners, 'Mideast War Intensifies.' What should it read instead? How about, 'Iran increasingly desperate.' More fake news from CNN. The sooner David Ellison takes over that network, the better"
Add “issue new social security numbers to all 300m Americans” to the ever-growing list of things that will need to do in the Post-Trump reconstruction era.
Sure sounds like somebody at DOGE took the Social Security numbers and personal information of every American on record, and put it on a thumb drive to bring home to Elon Musk’s AI company.

i don't care about any arguments against this. right now the sum total of my political advocacy is: crush the Republicans and make them pay. i don't care what comes after because until we do that nothing better is possible.
New York Dems are reportedly still expected to push for a constitutional amendment that would let them redraw the congressional map in 2028 to counter GOP gerrymanders. Dems could target 3-4 seats currently held by GOP. Dems must pass it both in 2026 & 2027, then win voter approval in November 2027
The split in this issue illustrates why any democratic proposals for bipartisan court reform are nonstarters. We cannot invite to the table people who think this outcome is fine. Moderation of access to justice is a denial of access to justice.
By a 6–3 vote, SCOTUS refuses to review a judge-made rule that bars indigent prisoners from splitting the filing fee among themselves when filing a federal suit—even though everyone else is allowed to split that fee. These defendants were allegedly tortured. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

Really don't understand how this isn't a bigger scandal. This is conspiracy to commit federal witness tampering (and likely witness murder) for the purpose of covering up a foreign government's deal with organized crime, a deal that has been affirmed by the DOJ.
In 2025, Rubio and Bukele reached a deal where gang informants, key to combatting cartels and gangs, would be betrayed by the US and sent to El Salvador. The deal hands Bukele custody of people who threatened to reveal agreements between Bukele's government and MS-13.

When one of these judges gets rewarded with a SCOTUS nomination, the Democrats and media better not forget this.
Reminder: For 313 days, three Trump-appointed judges have stopped Judge Boasberg from probing possible criminal contempt of his turn-the-planes-around order of last March—conduct implicating, among others, Secy Noem, Judge Bove, DAG Blanche, and, maybe, higher officials.

The fact that he’d pick Dulles as a place to force his name on to just shows how little he knows about the DC area, which has a proud tradition of ignoring Congressional decisions to name its airports after terrible presidents.
I somehow missed that Trump is illegally holding NYC infrastructure money hostage to get both Dulles and Penn Station named after himself www.axios.com/2026/02/06/t...
