Barrack Obama successfully sedated the white man with illegal cannabis and My Bloody Valentine analogues. With his ousting the program ended and the white man flocked to fentanyl and racist podcasters. The world has suffered ever since.

Also only recently finding out what "Levitation" is actually about 10+ years after Depression Cherry dropped. Wild stuff. It was like finding out "Teenage Dirtbag" was partly inspired by satanic homicide.

"In the future Paris has a new arch shaped like a tesseract" is the kind of world building you would get in campy sci-fi. It rules that it's also reality.

Another minor case of "mobile computing isn't", I want to make playlists from auto-shazam results. The app only does playlists for spotify, and only forward filling, no backfilling for the existing library. I'd also prefer YouTube because it tends to have more results. But no playlist function.

If we are entering an age where anyone can vibe request rudimentary software, putting aside my many thoughts on the topic, it'll be even more annoying when the most common form of computing barely lets you do any operating on the system without consequences.

But at least I got my data and it's likely illegal for Apple to remove it entirely. Tomorrow I can *programmer au concrèt* the sorting.

Shazam at one point allowed you to log in on desktop and download your library as CSV. But Apple removed desktop login. The option never existed on the app. The CSV does still exist in a data request, which is the path I took.

And that's all quite annoying. I need a formal GDPR-type request for personal data to get a 6-column table that exists on my local device. One Kotlin function could export it in-app, plus whatever it would take for the UI button.

This is fine. A program can't do everything. With an API I could make the bridge myself. There is no API. Shazam's library isn't complicated. It saves to a single table in sqlite. But of course, I can't access simple app data without rooting the phone.

Rooting is simple but today is treated as an incompatible security vulnerability. Banking apps and system updates can be rejected if it sees root. Funny since I can access my bank on desktop, where I can dump xinput to a plaintext file and put it on a public unsecured FTP server.

The right has been saying the injuries are from people picking them up to toss them back at the police. This one proved otherwise. The explosives are deliberately launched into crowds, and at a height where they can bounce before detonation.

Protester gets fingers blown off from a stun grenade in Clermont Ferrand.

Saw a man struggling to cycle with one hand as he held up an umbrella with the other hand.

These last minute changes are surely going to result in more chance for chaos.

If this is judgment day let it be known for history that the police stole my USB drive.

As a European, I don’t feel tired of helping Ukraine. Do you?

Mark Chadbourn@chadbourn.bsky.social

Trump: “Ukraine has to want to make a deal, because the United States has spent a fortune, Europe has spent a fortune, and Europe is tired of it right now. “If they don’t make a deal, ultimately, it’s just going to get — in my opinion, it’s just really going to get worse.”

It's 2020. Civil unrest is everywhere. Donald Trump is president. New Charli XCX album. Evening curfews in France. It's 2026. Civil unrest is everywhere. Donald Trump is president. New Charli XCX album. Evening curfews in France.

I'm fortunate I've not had serious injury from the riot cops but I've still never forgiven them for stealing my USB drive.

My high school senior project was on that drive. If McAnerney is still at Hillsdale I should offer to redo my portfolio with the new thesis "997 Police Injuries Is Not Enough". I'll have strong arguments.

Americans don't protest as much because there isn't a culture for it and there's functioning and reasonably fair elections. I see many excuses missing that it's just not a necessity for politics. Protest does not magically make things happen any more than elections or campaigning.

Also a very odd argument I've seen recently is that the US is too big for organizing? People don't really move around for protest. Organizing is all online. Was 2020 forgotten? They managed to get a BLM march in Vidor, Texas. Is Texas small now?

Like, even though I'm saying you don't have to riot, if you do want to riot you just gotta actually do it. Teenagers here are getting their hands blown off by police grenades and you're complaining about the long drive to Boston. "I don't want to" would at least be an honest answer.

An excuse I see regularly is the "militarized police". But US cops don't really shoot at protests. There's no Guerra Sucia. And it's not like french police are gentle... And when american protesters did get killed this year the protests got BIGGER. That tends to happen.

Tbh I don't know how much the riots will affect an election 6 months away. The modern news cycle is relentless. Donald Trump was shot and it wasn't even the biggest election news that month.

At the same time though I'm not sure if there's anything at this point that could prevent RN from winning. Mélenchon doesn't seem like he can do it alone and there's a reason no one hears about the others.

Will anyone in power address police conduct? Will any party that isn't far-left? Any major national media? International? Every statement and discussion on "riots", "optics", "violence", centers only one side. Broken windows have infinitely more coverage than broken bones.

Downsizing is a one-time tax cut that will still slowly increase because all property appreciates. Homeowners fight to have continuously increasing property value then get upset when they are taxed the rate for high value property.

Older people who want to pay lower property taxes should be able to downsize into an age-appropriate home that requires less upkeep without having to leave the communities where they raised their families; but they oppose that because they feel entitled to a fixed, unchanging neighborhood character.

The view of Macron I've seen outsiders have, as some kind of based ultra-liberal, is definitely a branding success on his part. His public stances with Ukraine helped that a lot in recent years.

The view sees him like a younger Joe Biden. But his second term has been closer to a more attractive Matt Yglesias.
