still so fucked up that the 3h sequel gives its lords supports and paired endings while 3h is like “we will give claude and dimitri each one singular one-on-one conversation with edelgard in their respective routes and it will be less than a minute long”

finished dietrich’s route over the weekend and i need time for it to fully marinate. kind of feels like playing verdant wind as your first 3h route for how much it’s removed from the greater personal stakes of the other routes but if you’re 3h-pilled like i am it’s a fun little romp

also they COULD have better tied dietrich to the greater plot by drawing out mars and solel’s suspicion about fodlan’s gods interfering in dagda via him having a hero’s relic or even give us an idea of what would happen if a god from another continent DID come to dagda.

like why drop that nugget of lore and then make seteth irrelevant on dietrich’s path when he’s so close to seiros/rhea and is literally a saint… anyway it would have been interesting if at some point dietrich was pursued by the gods and/or seteth AND anatolia’s party western showdown style

i thought having cetus be a mid-path fight was an odd choice at first but i do like the idea of dietrich seeing this monster consumed by their relic and thinking “that could be…me?” with a certain joy in his heart. it’s an interesting motivation change for him that i wish they really explored

i thought his ending felt earned but i also wished dietrich struggled a bit more with his inability to connect with others. it’s discussed in some supports but it seems like a main theme of the route that should have been be turned up a dial imo

4 paths down from 8 when the sub lords were planned to get routes and i’m guessing the people of the white egg plotline was there to bind dietrich and anatolia together for a shared part 2. that and the lyrah plotline feeling very rushed were my biggest gripes off the top of my head.

loved the characters though. they bounce so well off of each other and i thought their development was surprisingly sweet. i usually roll my eyes at fandom’s version of “found family” but this is like the ideal found family dynamic. three people who kind of suck and esmeralda

my main criticism at the moment is that while the agarthan lore itself weirdly worked for me even though intsys took some big swings, the way they were revealed often didn’t build up in-narrative to anything conclusive toward dietrich’s arc? i heard someone say they think part 2 was meant to be

failed cai’s paralogue like five times. went to the map to try and get materials for a levin sword by searching at that one place by fina. made a wrong turn and totally missed the paralogue deadline.

also i’ve been trying for like five chapters to recruit olympia specifically because every mage but fabio is so under leveled but im not making it in time she makes it so hard to recruit her
