CQ seeks volunteers to help us work on our next issue. Diverging from precedence, applications are open to all. Priority consideration will be given to those affiliated with UNC - Chapel Hill, but anyone interested is encouraged to apply. Applications are open until the positions are filled.

This 19th c lady’s multitool was found in the pocket(!) of an antique (1872) garment donated to the historic clothing archive at my employer. It features a button hook for fitted gloves and a tiny corkscrew. The corkscrew is too small for wine & was probably intended to open apothecary bottles.

I asked a friend to go early-vote together this weekend. We usually get coffee which is fine but this is a fun alternative. And we could still get coffee if we want.

Also I am sure that people on this website are going to fission mad at me over this, but voting is a social process. It's good and pro-social for us to all wander over to the neighborhood church or community center 1-2 times per year, joke with volunteers, and exercise our franchise together.

Please enjoy these blocked felt hats by my millinery students. Clockwise from top left: Francis Werth, Mackenzie Privett, Aerial Sanders, Brynn Turner, same maker, Alice Crist

I have lived east and west and while the west coast mountains will kill you through indifference to humanity, they are brash young mountains. The Appalachians are the home of things whose names humanity has never known, and they resent us as newcomers and take us down into the dark when they can.

It's so cute when people on the east coast talk about mountains

Happy book lovers day! Never before have I felt so protective of all of us. Tech companies that have devalued the importance of books and education through the use of AI are invested in believing that we don't matter or that we don't exist or that we're idiots. We know better.

Teachers rarely hear from parents who support intellectual freedom. A kind, respectful message reminds them they have allies in the community. A simple email can go a long way. #FreedomToRead #RightToRead #SupportTeachers #Libraries #Education

I’m astonished by the ability of my fellow humans to forget the events we all just lived through. Folks remember the masks and the remote school. The million US dead are rarely mentioned. Folks, we lived through a plague.

Fuck off. If anything is "millennial", it's those cool transparent colors our iMacs, Gameboys, and Tamagotchis came in. No fucking millennial likes the house flipper grey. Call it a millennial paint job when I can see through the exterior of a car because it's Glacier Purple like my GBA.

Jack Saint@lackingsaint.bsky.social

No fuck off we're not calling this "Millennial grey" this shit was dictated completely by boomer retiree house flippers we absolutely had NO say in this

It is a critical failure of the left that the explosive diarrhea parasite outbreak has not already been branded "The RFK Runs" or "The MAHA Squirts" or "The Trump Trots" or something along those lines. "Oh, man, I can't go because I got a bad case of J.D. Pants."
