🚨NEW WORDS ALERT🚨 She doesn't care for the attention and outside noise, but she deserves a lot of it. Kiah Stokes has been an absolute monster defensively and deserves your respect. On her historic run: sports.yahoo.com/wnba/article...

Kiah Stokes had a 19% block rate, averaging above 3 blocks per game in under 20 minutes as a senior at UCONN. She is one of the greatest shot blockers in the history of the women's game. The Warden of Alcatraz.

Aka 3:30am Sydney time. This terrible decision suits no one. Boo!!!

I haven’t slept a full night in three weeks ahead of the polls opening in Brazil today. I might be shouting into a void here, but if you can spare a few seconds to send good energy towards our elections today and for the largest country in South America to beat fascism, please do so. 🇧🇷

Hey broadcast team, instead of reminding us again that DB is 39 years old, let audiences know that Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray helped design these Atlanta Dream uniforms and on the back of the jerseys are all the Atlanta area codes as a nod to having the city on their backs. #wnba

Thank you to everyone who stood with me over the years. It’s been a scary journey but I have always been grounded in my work and ability to provide exemplary service to my constituents. Trump and his administration have been after me since I arrived in Congress.

BREAKING WaPo: Trump officials scrutinized Rep. Ilhan Omar in 2019. They didn't find citizenship issues.
The earlier review of Omar's immigration records looked at many of the same issues being investigated now.

You have to not anguish about ethical uses of an unethical product. This is DDT. It’s poison, the people selling it know it and are pushing back hard against people trying to call it what it is. We did that, though.

“We can’t stop AI! We can’t stop progress!” My dudes, ladies, and genderqueer buddies: we have stopped using a lot of things. Especially shitty things that harm us. Remember how station wagons had backwards facing seats until they realized that’s begging for injuries in an accident?

While the below is true, the fastest tell is actually that no publisher is going to reach out to you to ask about your work. Ever. They just aren't.

I still remember in 2015 when Trump was gonna hold a press conference clear up all the questions about Melania's immigration issues in two weeks. And then he didn't. And the press never asked them about it again.

I didn't truly understand how deep #fatphobia goes until I got sick & suddenly struggled to keep weight on. In a life threatening way. I was showered with compliments on my figure. Too many folks were *envious*. Of an autoimmune disease. Many of my symptoms are the same as GLP-1 side effects.

there was streaming before the big companies, and they criminalized it when it was free because it was unfair to artists, and now that it's for-profit it's legal and it's still fucking unfair to artists.

AI is being used to... -Facilitate online scams -Process health insurance claims, leading to wrongful denials -Price gouge customers via surveillance pricing -Set higher car insurance premiums using personal data The dangers of AI aren’t in some far-off future. They're already here.

This! Great explanation of why Romance matters & why tropes aren't a sign of bad writing. Reviews which identify tropes in fiction as proof that they're badly written only prove that they're bad criticism. All fiction has tropes in it! No matter the genre! Otherwise it'd be unreadable!

Dr Sam Hirst@romgothsam.bsky.social

Having seen the Joyce Carol Oates very bad, not good tweet about romance and AI, I can't help thinking about the way that romance has been treated as a punching bag for so long and always by people who are completely unwilling to engage with the genre and know little about it.

The way anti-data center messaging has permeated politics nationwide across the aisle should forever end the notion that it's just accelerated NIMBYism. People who have no data centers anywhere nearby still hate them enough to make politicians have to hate them too just to survive.
