randomly giving out genuine compliments is such an easy way to make the world a little nicer, i'm always surprised more people haven't figured that out and have a ton of respect for those who have

Ok, here's a Sunday scary for you - did you know that in every county in Ireland, women are earning less? I've categorised the company pay gap reports by location, and everywhere has a mean pay gap in favour of men, and almost everywhere a median pay gap in favour of men.

It is one of the most beautiful and challenging books I have ever read. Sobbed several times throughout. #Poor by the magnificent Katriona O'Sullivan.

NEW: Before cryptobillionaire Christopher Harborne gave £5m to @nigel_farage, he gave £1m to Boris Johnson. For what?? Today @thenerve.news news reveals new evidence that tracks Harborne's investments in defence firm QinetiQ...to key defence announcements from Boris Johnson. 1/

The absolute humility and generosity of Zelenskyy. What does he say to Caolan Robertson when giving him his much deserved award? “Don’t forget us” Whoever could!

#otd On this day in 1912, Hannah Sheehy Skeffington smashed some windows in Dublin Castle "as an act of suffrage". I love this plaque at the castle for its Irish translation; "a rinne smidirini de na fuinneoga seo". One of my favourite Irish words, #speirgorm * #smidiríní *

Very cool indeed

I know there’s a lot going on with the Labour Party, but it is all in the bounds of democratic politics. This however, paid collusion between the leaders of two political parties in the run up to election, if true, is a scandal of staggering propositions

My 8 yr old said today that she was going to 'hold on' to her birthday money 'until it made some money and then hold on to that money until it also made some money & only then could you start spending'! I asked her 'who taught you that, Daddy?' She said 'no, Teen Titans'! Worried & proud. #Parenting

Absolutely magical. Handel's Messiah on Dublin's Fishamble Street this lunchtime, 284 years after it was first performed. Proinnsías Ó Duinn, 85 years young conducting, a living legend.

In Ireland we have interdependent communities. We know this inherently. We have come through serious trauma on multiple levels nationally. We can't let our fault lines be manipulated. We have a rural urban divide and haves and have nots. But if there is one thing we know how to do here it's talk.

The electorate can talk to TDs very easily, we have an extremely accessible democratic model where elected representatives have to compete in customer service with other reps in a multi seat constituency.

Why will our government not talk to the people on the ground and the ordinary electorate about the issue at hand!? What harm can it do!? If it fails it fails at least the government can say we tried but talks broke down or we have reached a compromise. Is it that hard to talk to the electorate

Because no government in the world is meeting with random liúdramán's who decided they get to keep the rest of the country hostage by blocking fuel depots and making things worst for the rest of us.

Yes, as you may have gathered, I'm pissed off. And I'm a Culchie. Imagine the reaction if a bunch of Dubliners went down to Mayo and caused chaos for the locals for 36 hours (and counting...) cos Donald Trump bombed Iran 🙄

#OTD 1914 the inaugural meeting of Cumann na mBan took place. It aims were to 'advance the cause of Irish liberty...organise Irishwomen in furtherance of this object...assist in arming & equipping Irishmen for the defence of Ireland...and form a fund for these purposes.' www.dib.ie/biography/ca...

"Among young American men, the strongest predictor of support for the tradwife lifestyle was not gallantry but hostility towards women" Apparently this is not what researchers "expected". Which makes one wonder: had these researchers thought about it for 30 seconds? www.thetimes.com/life-style/s...
