I love that she says basically I don't know a lot about rap, but that he's the best at it. And in his post he says he doesn't know a lot about country but she's an icon. I could just imagine what a conversation between them would be like. and i love writing appreciation notes to my favorites.

The insecure nitwits in our faces with their endless word vomits are too insecure and bizarre to ever think of sending a note like Dolly's, let alone finding it easy. It's too Dolly's credit as an actual human being that she never went off the celebrity deep end.

Always be kind and offer a compliment to someone. It could save a life.

It's so important! Very specific compliments I've been given by people I love and respect have kept me going my entire life. I try my best to pay it forward.

I love complimenting people's makeup or outfit, even in a passing discussion, and it always surprises me when they look taken aback by it. We should do it more.

My life changed when I learned how to accept compliments. Laughing them off 'oh, this old thing?" is insulting. Thank them for the compliment, it's taken an effort.

Musicians get it bc they have to learn how to accept compliments. That's where I think people should focus their work; How to accept a compliment. Musicians learn to say "oh no you're too kind, but thank you".

This is incredibly lovely. As an old movie fan, I thought of Clara Bow (retired in 1933) sending fan letters to Marlon Brando in the 50’s. Just a super sweet gesture to encourage younger figures 🩷

Truly complimenting someone for the simplest act can make someone’s day. Make it honest and not just words coming out of your mouth. Also if you can, giving eye contact shows your sincerity.
