Football pundits want Unai Emery at a Big 6 club so bad, but an easy solution is to simply replace Man U with Aston Villa in the Big 6.

Some people will be mad at this. Not me. Bring back Michael Fassbender.

A sequel to Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant is reportedly in the works with Prisoners writer Aaron Guzikowski. https://bit.ly/48gIaBe

I think about this anytime I hear "Start your own thing" or "Run for office." I do not want to run for office. I don't want to be on the city council. I don't want to be CFO.

“You can just start your own studio!” Brother I do not WANT to own a business. I don’t want to be anybody’s boss. I want to write, which is the thing i’m good at!!!

✨ What? Yet another entertainment podcast. ✨ From whom? Amelia Emberwing, Perri Nemiroff and Rosie Knight. ✨ But why? We’re so glad you asked:

It’s been a hot minute but I’m back in the New York Times! I spoke with Infinity Ward about portraying the Korean War conflict in COD MW4 and real world events, as well as actor Young Mazino about his lead role as Park Hyun-Jun www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/a...

This is the player I have. Enthusiasts will tell you the Panasonic ones are better, but this was a very affordable option with good baseline features. A shame.

THE DEFAULT PROTAG FOR NEW MASS EFFECT WAS GOING TO BE ASIAN!?

Kotaku@kotaku.com

One day after EA shut down BioWare, a trailer has begun circulating for what some claim was supposed to be Mass Effect 5, a game called Mass Effect: Universe starring Liara T'Soni and a new protagonist. https://kotaku.com/mass-effect-5-universe-leaked-trailer-liara-bioware-2000748858

To honor one of the studios that defined PC gaming, we've republished more than 20 articles about BioWare today. The pcgamer.com homepage is dedicated to interviews, retrospectives, and making-ofs about some of the best RPGs of all time.

Gonna do a Nathan Fielder bit where I get an MBA, become an exec at a game company, pitch the idea of selling more copies of a game than it cost to make and then eventually become CEO of all video games.

Scoop for anyone who can get Amazon to comment on the planned Mass Effect tv show. I imagine that's also canceled now.

There’s a really interesting thing happening right now where there is a Japanese adaptation of a Korean show, and a Korean adaptation of a Japanese show airing at the same time on Netflix. Attorney Woo and Dr. X.

I don’t watch as many Japanese TV dramas as I ought to but one interesting thing I found is these adaptions appear to be doing a concerted effort to capture the feeling of their respective adaption. The Korean version of Dr. X seems to be keeping a lot of quirks of J-Dramas and vice versa.

Bit late to the "Why are people still on Twitter" discourse but for me the easy answer is: "If you're still on Twitter you're there because you enjoy the bloodsport of it all"

Between this and Over the Hill it's clear that gamers long to become car.

NEW: AI mash-ups have nothing on Ubisoft, who have engineered an official crossover between The Crew and Tomb Raider. You solve dungeon puzzles not as Lara Croft but in a Suzuki 4x4 I played through it. It was wonderfully absurd. www.gamefile.news/p/the-crew-m...

Steam Next Fest Tip: If you're game is any kind of deck builder, do NOT use AI to design your cards. That's an instant ignore.

Is playing a bunch of Steam Next Fest demos on a Steam Frame practical? Not really, but if I wanted a practical gaming device I would've bought a Steam Deck.

Last month we lost our jobs. This month we made new ones. Introducing X BUTTON: an independent gaming network from three ex-IGN employees. A new weekly Nintendo podcast! A new weekly video game podcast! And that’s just the start, but we can’t do it without your help! www.patreon.com/cw/XButtonShow

This is kind of a parallel question but could game dev contract around disciplines like in film? Like there's a co-dev for lighting, engine, physics, etc.? And if so would that be easier to unionize? Say all the physics teams in NA decide to strike. Or is this apples and oranges?

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

Was telling Meghan it feels like people are making movies like it’s going out of style, but it’s kind of true! All this creativity freed from having to make a Marvel!

Checked on Twitter and this is exactly what some people believe!

Do… do people think they’re going to be allowed to Speed Racer jump around in Teslas on the road?

Bit of a longshot but if anyone has a Steam Controller they got and found they don't need, let me know! The scalper market for those are insane.

OKAY. Here's how my first week as an independent journalist went down! I published 30 stories for Vertical Slice—including an interview with Ubisoft union workers on their fight against an RTO mandate and coverage of the Rockstar union busting tribunal in Glasgow. It was hard work, but rewarding!

I feel nothing about seeing N. Korea flattened in US Media anymore. I guess for me is I have my lived experience as Korean and I think MW4 will present the US vision of it. And I'm curious to see how far apart that gap is as a kind of temperature check.

dante@dante.cool

Not as if previous COD games are notably better but the base conceit in MW4 is so comically, absurdly racist (not to mention anticommunist, chauvinist, fascist) it is honestly kind of blowing me away. Not so much "touching" offensive topics but wholeheartedly embracing them. Yikes!
