I once said Garak would cut though the Babylon 5 universe, but that's because I'd forgotten about Bester. Their battle would make Vorlon vs Shadow look like Orks headbutting each other

I invite dozens of employees at Boston Dynamics to study the later research of Dr Miles Bennett Dyson

No yeah guys, you should totally chase the account with twenty self-descriptors saying the most inflammatory possible things into that flat tunnel painted on the wall.

It's easy to make the Government out as the bad guys in these labour talks. Very easy. Incredibly easy. So easy that you'd think it would spark some introspection

TANK GAME PERFECT ACHIEVEMENT: I got a top score without dealing any damage, enemy spotting alone gifted me and my team victory! TYR is a real one, that's my favorite tactical role. (I did try to shoot too, but my light tank long range shot just bounced off, which is ALSO correct tank game)

TANK GAME PERFECT ACHIEVEMENT #2: no damage high score, this time with healing, spotting, and capturing! The key moment was losing a shootout and RUNNING LIKE HELL instead of going death drive, then I was around to heal my allies and steal enemy resources instead!

TYR-anny continues, I have now had good games with a Heavy tank too, it is possible and in fact fun. Not as fun as observing armor to death, but delivering that death is also satisfying. Especially since my immensity holds still long enough to enter precision aim mode.

There's a simple answer, if your research has been fed to an AI there's a pretty high chance it'll get "scooped" by AI.

Nature@nature.com

As AI agents’ ability to do science autonomously continues to improve, scientists are facing a once-unthinkable question: will I get scooped by a bot? go.nature.com/47L8HGE

I'm going to have to pay heavy tanks for a while, to learn how to kill them, but sweet Hermes I love games where zippy scout is a genuinely useful class instead of beginner fodder for the leveled players

I've made a scout tank that's basically a nuclear reactor run by spotting enemies instead of uranium (which generates energy, which lets me redeploy my drone, which spots enemies, which...)

One time my therapist asked me if I'd rather be mentally healthy or have people think I'm funny and, considering the *flurry* of scribbled notes afterwards, I don't think my response was what he was looking for.

Okay, let's compromise on the world accepting some bad things happening to Sam Altman

First tries with TYR are excellent signs 1st game: rolled forward, got blown the hell up 2nd: rolled more slowly, got blown up a bit later 3rd: now able to read map, responded to teammates positions, held back half the game, got a kill, an assist, and we won TANK TACTICS ARE GO!

I like how Marriage Toxin's evil Poison Clan are all "Excellent, we've raised our protagonist to be incredibly skilled and independent, we'll certainly be able to manipulate him by threatening those he loves and he definitely won't destroy us."

Remember when it looked like Star Wars was actually going to do something new for ten minutes, that was great.

I started off pretty bad at social cues, and one week after arriving at university even I noticed "oh wow, those guys still talking about their university placement exam scores suck".

What the hell is a countersphexist, I mean I know it's "someone huffing off their own farts for so long they now have a methane-based biology", but what does EY think it means. When you're capitalizing words internet searches can't find you gotta go talk to more people.

Our dishwasher projecting a small light on the floor just to show it's running at all has done more for my life than all AR to date

Sebas@ohlookbirdies.bsky.social

In many ways we got a much more underwhelming future than we were promised but a dishwasher that projects the remaining runtime on the floor? That's the good shit

"Can machines feel pain?"

Can the new cutting-edge AI models feel pain? They at least behave as if they do, according to a recent study. The work, which has not been peer reviewed, has divided #AI researchers. https://scim.ag/4hHU6BA

I was thinking everything in China can't be better AND cheaper, but then I realized that's the same as everything in the UK being more expensive AND worse, and yeah, that checks out.
