It's like the Henry Hoover of cars

Robert Llewellyn@bobbyllew.bsky.social

Some of you will have seen the new Citroen 2CV already. I’m at the launch and I think it looks great. Smaller, lighter, electric and really not expensive

The personal brand? Being a complete dumbass

Gareth Watkins@garethwatkins.bsky.social

We need a name for this, something like vice-signalling, where people, usually in or around tech or finance, claim to do some quirky bullshit that patently doesn't work just so they can post about it to build their personal brand.

She'd be gutted that she wasted 12 million quid paying off one of his accusers and he got arrested anyway

LBC@lbc.co.uk

"I'm glad the late queen wasn't alive to see this." @mrjamesob.bsky.social expresses his sympathies for the late queen, following the arrest of her son, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Did Chelsea forget that Josh and Sarr are on the books or are the SDs just addicted to transfers?

Nizaar Kinsella@nizaarkinsella.bsky.social

Liverpool agree £60m deal for Jeremy Jacquet. Finances weren't an issue for Chelsea but they have Josh Acheampong, 19, and Mamadou Sarr, 20, on the books to think about. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

It doesn't seem right that Benfica could play 3 CL games in a row against Real Madrid (has such a thing ever occurred before?)

The Athletic | Football@theathleticfc.bsky.social

Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin's 97th-minute header against Real Madrid sent Jose Mourinho's side through to the Champions League play-offs at Marseille's expense. Benfica will play either Inter or Real Madrid for a place in the last 16 — Real were third in the table going into this evening.

It's effective but absolutely dire to watch

Michael Caley@michaelcaley.bsky.social

further, corner kick goals have gone up, primarily because of an increase in deliveries to the six-yard box and an effective strategy of crowding the goalkeeper

So I joined a gym recently which is great, but turns out you can just go to decathlon everyday for free and use the equipment there and they will not stop you

I've lived in Amsterdam for 9 years now, there's always mini festivals, events, workshops, new bars and rsstaurants etc, I can't imagine not wanting this for myself

We've had increasingly right-wing governments for 15 years here, and it seems that the Dutch voters think they will solve their problems by voting right even harder.

If you think British politics are nuts right now, in the Netherlands – where on Wednesday an election will be held – two members of the far-right PVV, likely to be the biggest party, have been running a Facebook page where they post AI-generated propaganda against immigrants and other politicians.

Online used to exist only in a box in a room in your house, we called it a desktop computer and it was the only way to access it. Now the internet is in our pockets all the time and madness has ensued.

ceej@ceej.online

obviously it’s a real problem that young men are getting their brains cooked online on the regular but like, I was there in second life when the goons threw a farewell party for saddam hussein and I am, and I know this is going to sound like a lie, pretty normal. there’s got to be an x factor here

So after more than 10 years I cancelled my spotify subscription. I didnt use it to listen to podcasts but my subscription over time had been paying the likes of Joe Rogan, Harry & Megan and the Obamas rather than the aryists I'd signed up to listen to.

I think the straw that broke the camel's back was the reports of the CEOs investments in weapons. Why should I continue to support a platform where the profits are used to devise the slaughter of our fellow humans?

Regardless of this I tried Soundcloud Go or whatever its called, but importing my liked songs mostly resulted in them being replaced by covers (maybe it's more profitable?) But either way I cancelled atter a week to switch to Tidal, which should be much cheaper on tfamily plan and not suffer covers

I was running a few months ago and got stuck chatting to a bloke who had spent the previous day in a cafe talking to chatgpt. In the course of the conversation the chatbot told him that he felt sadness and the man took this at face value and uncritically repeated it to me.

To be fair Head of Nasa is a terrible name for a metro line and I would avoid riding it too

shauna@goldengateblond.bsky.social

Rolling Stone continues to teach a masterclass in headline writing www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Given what we know about the typical media consumed by a 68 year old white man in Britain, they might be better off keeping to themselves?

Peter Walker@peterwalker99.bsky.social

Among the many oddities is this paragraph. If you try and “share a joke” with a stranger at a bus stop, then *you* are the person who has failed to even remotely integrate into London life. It’s the first rule anyone learns.

Big to start work and find Jest 30 had been released last week. While I wouldn't pick it for a new project, the upgrade was quick and painless given there has been years since the last release

Oh, and I quit my job at the consultancy and am available for freelance work from 1st July. I'm basically a TypeScript DevOps person whose open to Amsterdam-area hybrid or fully remote work.

Playing with building react native apps is great but doing a clean build basically maxes out all 16 cpu cores and I'm probably two/three months away from justifiably buying myself a new laptop that should crush this work

The best thing about YOLO-editing your k8s cluster through k9s/vim is when your cat just jumps and walks all over your keyboard and now you really can't exit vim

The toilets at my work are gender neutral and it turns out that the general population are in fact completely capable of being fucking normal about it, apart from the rabid followers of a children's author whose books they never grew out of.

Charlotte Lydia Riley@lottelydia.bsky.social

right yes, every pub in the country to have three loos — men, women, and trans people. every hospital to add a trans ward. every leisure centre and department store, a trans changing room. COME ON NOW.

Regardless of any arguments for or against the TypeScript Go announcement (which I am in favour of by the way), I'm impressed at the simultaneous outreach across podcasts, reddit, discord, blogposts etc

So now that the CRA repo is seeing a tiny bit of attention again, I think the only reasonable step left is to make a final release upgrading it to be a tiny wrapper over create-vite

Microsoft sowing // microsoft reaping

Max Kennerly@maxkennerly.bsky.social

Gosh, sounds like fair use to me. It's not like OpenAI / Microsoft cared one bit about licenses or copyright when they absorbed my entire legal blog into their LLMs via Common Crawl. Why should their probabilistic LLM outputs get better copyright protection than my original human work?

This deepseek situation demonstrates the underwhelming, wasteful output of the western tech industry perfectly. It’s all built for making billionaires richer and that’s why it’s burning you out.
