Works with the first 3 letters of any month. Another one I didn’t include is that it’s very picking about opening parens being closed but doesn’t give a fuck about closing parens being scattered around.

I feel like there must be a hilarious story behind how all these rules came to be. Hilarious except for ruining an entire JS global that is...

16/28 - I will be expecting a mug by carrier pigeon post haste. Just also have to add: ”12.1” explanation made my brain melt, and my day. Bravo sir, bravo.

I hate JS Date. I have time interval reporting; interview booking where the recruiter, client and candidate are all in different timezones, all 3 with different summertimes; integrations with other systems that don't validate or have different epochs. I hate the concept of time Excellent work 😔

In case you haven't seen it, there's now a Python f-string one inspired by yours. bsky.app/profile/trey...

I got 21/26 on @mitsuhiko.at's fstrings.wtf quiz. I spent a lot of time creating a cheat sheet and article on f-strings, so I was kicking myself after a few of them that I should have known. There were definitely a couple surprise Python features for me though! fstrings.wtf

This whole thing came about at work earlier this week when I realised “0” and 0 give different results. I tried “1”, okay, fine. Then “2” and that’s when I knew I had to make this quiz. Ended up reading the v8 code behind it to weed out other edge cases.

Maybe with Temporal etc we can end up removing some of these quirky behaviours especially where browsers don't agree. Keep the logical iso based stuff and then maybe find the minimum compat jank and specify that too? I can dream... Stuff like this must be a nightmare for servo etc 😅

if it was a browser api (like the DOMrect stuff) then servo would need to implement it but they just use pure spidermonkey for core language not sure abt ladybird tho...

I would say that I'm glad to see my HN submission paid off, but I feel burdened by the knowledge I picked up while reading the comments.

Ahah too bad! At some point you get a t-shirt that says "I found the Treasure of Mêlée Island and all I got was this stupid t-shirt", sounded pretty close! Fantastic quizz in any case, that was brutal

Ah no, not a lefty! It’s a mix of mostly unintentional palm muting (because I’m really rusty, as are my strings) and a really buzzy guitar that I need get set up properly, hehe

Could be worse, you could be in .NET where DateTimeKind may or may not be set for horrible to find bugs. Or you could be in Java *shudders*

I got 15/28. Thank you for making this. I hate it immensely. The selection and ordering of questions was exquisitely infuriating. Well done!

Pedantry: you made a quiz about _V8_'s Date parser. Almost none of this is required by spec (although it is allowed), and several of these behave differently in other browsers. Which is even worse!
