@tonygoldmark.bsky.social I've been following you for more than a decade now. Not to sound parasocial but what I've always admired about you is how empathetic you are. Your content, your posts, they are always about defending the marginalized. And you don't have any responsibility to do so.

I know "it's the humane thing to do" and all that but as history shows, the vast majority of human beings hate doing the right thing, outside of a select few. You, however, are a cis, straight, white male who never had to face any kind of hate for who you are. You have no stake in this.

And yet, you use your own privileges to call out bigotry and power. You don't expect anything in return and you'll inevitably get death threats for it. So I guess what I'm asking is: what motivated you to be this empathetic? Was it someone who inspired you? Was it a moment of reflection?
