I assume the writer couldn’t find someone to go to lunch with them so they went alone, ordered one too many drinks, and wrote this.

1/ Half way through our European road trip: 1,300 miles down, 1,200 miles to go. We've made it to beautiful Croatia. Six of us, three generations, in my 2010 Ford S-Max which we bought for £200 about three years ago...

7/ Day 8. We left Venice and drove around the corner, via Slovenia, arriving in Croatia a few hours later. We'll stay for a few days before starting the return journey home 🚗 So far I'd definitely recommend a road trip if like us you have teenagers. It's been an adventure.

4/ Days 4&5 in Adelboden, Swizerland. No car needed once we got here. You are given a pass when staying in the village and it includes the gondola rides, open air swimming pool etc. which meant we could ditch the car for a few days.

5/ Day 6 was a journey from Swizerland to Venice via a swim in Lake Garda (all long car journeys should be broken up by an hour or two swimming in a lake or a river!). This journey involved two car trains. You literally drive on and the carriage takes you (still in your car) through the mountain.

2/ Day 1: We began in sunny Leicestershire and travelled to Calais via Le Shuttle (booked with Tesco vouchers - bargain!) and arrived in Chantilly mid afternoon. Day 2: Day trip to Paris via a 25 minute train journey. The metro in rush hour is like nothing I've ever seen! We saw the sights.

The only cabinet in British history to be fully state school educated and a load of people think they are posher than Farage. Unbelievable. The power of the rightwing press exhibit #8346

Heard on the journey home today that Leicester (where I work) is the worst place in the country to survive a zombie attack and that Plymouth is the best (escape routes off the island and whatnot).

Racist politicians whip up racist outrage. Widespread disorder ensues. The courts treat widespread disorder with the severity that they have always treated widespread disorder. Racist politicians cry “two-tier justice”, whipping up racist outrage. Rinse. Repeat. It’s so fucking tedious.

TUC on Reform’s proposal to change working time laws & stop workers having to pay tax on overtime “Farage’s overtime tax proposal is just a cynical gimmick. “Working people don’t need politicians encouraging a culture of ever-longer hours. They need decent pay rises, secure jobs and strong rights"

It's not 1536, but Anne Boleyn has taken over the news. Recently a team of computer scientists, electrical engineers and a historical novelist think they have discovered the “true face” of Anne (& her mother) by applying AI-based computational facial recognition to Holbein sketches. The catch? /1

They’re at it again. None of this is valuable historical research. It’s about exploiting historical artifacts and historians to develop computer vision further and to make a soft cultural argument for surveillance tech. This nonsense has been going on since c2010.

Bluesky is there a website - I imagine a bit like Wikipedia - where far right myths and propaganda are debunked? It would be super helpful if there was. The misinformation is out there but the facts to challenge them aren't always as readily available when needed.

Been doing a fair bit of motorway driving the last few days. A reminder for those who need it: Highway code Motorways: Lane discipline Rule 264 Keep in the left lane unless overtaking You're welcome 🚗

It's Sunday! And that means it's time to shake things up with a little grown-up show and tell! So show us something neat and tell us about it! Something you made, something you did, something you're proud of. Friends, pets, family. Anything really! Go on, show us!

Kyiv. Late evening. Air defence is shooting down drones. I say it like, “The weather is fine outside, just cloudy.” That’s what four years have done to us. Protect peace. Don’t let war become normal.

Yum! Just made these and they're delicious. Happy St David's Day 🌼

I show you Kyiv. I tell you about our life here. Slowly, I’m getting back to educating you about Ukraine. We survived this winter (it seems). Of course, there will be more attacks, more challenges. I’ll do my best to remind you that we are more than this bloody war.

Including the sell off of probation despite the risk to the public. That did not work out well. Urgh what an awful appointment here by Starmer. What was he thinking? 🤦🏻‍♀️
