The walk to school is often a child's first step towards independence & it should be a safe one. School's back Sept. 8, so slow down in school zones & watch for kids. With ICBC & local communities, we're making streets around schools safer for kids, one crossing at a time. @lisabeare.bsky.social

Nearly 1,200 new spaces on school grounds will help parents and caregivers access high-quality and affordable child care in the safe and welcoming spaces their kids already know and trust. 📚✏️ @georgeandersonbc.bsky.social @sheilamalcolmsonbc.bsky.social 🔗: news.gov.bc.ca/releases/202...

Keeping students safe on their journeys to and from school is a shared responsibility. 📚✏️ As students prepare to return to school, it’s an important reminder for drivers to stay alert, obey school zone speed limits, and model safe road behaviours. 🛑 @nikisharma.bsky.social icbc.com/about-icbc/n...

As more families call #Coquitlam & #PoCo home, we’re investing in the schools and services students need to thrive. Today I joined MLA Mike Farnworth to celebrate as construction starts on the new Hazel Trembath Elementary. @j-blatherwick-mla.bsky.social 👉🏻: news.gov.bc.ca/34191

Today marks an important step forward for crane operators in B.C. We're expanding Skilled Trades Certification to tower and mobile crane operators, recognizing their expertise, strengthening safety standards and helping build the skilled workforce our province needs. #LookWestBC #SkilledTrades

Funding school food programs is another way we’re helping parents save money! 🍎🥪📚   Through B.C’s Feeding Futures fund and the National School Food Program, we're helping parents save money on groceries while making sure kids are fed at school.

Nothing makes a schoolyard feel more alive than the sound of kids playing. 🛝💙 I’m so excited that Blueridge Elementary is receiving $200,000 in Provincial funding for a new accessible playground, the latest investment in safer, more inclusive play spaces for kids here in North Vancouver.

Nearly 900 new child care spaces have opened in 17 communities across BC so far this year, with another 12,000 in development. Provincial funding is now available to help school districts create child care on school grounds where suitable space is available. News.gov.bc.ca/33737

Busy mornings & afternoons are easier with child care close to home. 🚧 We’re creating a new program to help school districts create before & after school care in existing spaces, meaning more spots, less stress, and stronger communities across #BC https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2026ECC0018-000529

There’s some very exciting business happening across B.C. right now… and yes, it involves monkey bars, swings, and a lot of future games of tag. 🛝🎉 We’re investing in 25 new accessible school playgrounds across the province so more kids can play, explore, imagine, and grow together.

This Emergency Preparedness Week I encourage everyone in BC to take action to prepare themselves and their families. The best time to prevent the worst of an emergency is before one happens. Taking small steps today can have a large impact tomorrow. 👉 news.gov.bc.ca/33701

The Legislature felt a bit more like home last week! I love when students from Coquitlam visit Victoria. On Friday, Mr. Seah and the Pinetree Secondary Band 🎶came to perform outside the Legislature. I was grateful to be able to say hi and answer some questions about what life is like as a Minister.

Moody Elementary is now open in #PortMoody!🏗️ This seismic replacement and expansion brings safer classrooms, more student spaces, and on site child care, making pick-ups & drop-offs easier for families & helping kids thrive every day. https://news.gov.bc.ca/33653

This evening, Jewish people around the world will light candles and remember those murdered in the Holocaust. Yom HaShoah calls on everyone to remember and reflect. We honour the six million people killed by the Nazis in a systematic attempt to annihilate Jewish people. (1/10)

What an amazing way to wrap #educationweek, hearing firsthand from students in the Early Childhood Educator Dual Credit Program at @langaracollege.bsky.social that are getting a head start on their careers! @vsb39.bsky.social Thank you for such a meaningful student-led discussion! #proudtolearn 🎓📚

Honoured to be at the Nanaimo - Ladysmith Schools Foundation donors event. As a former scholarship recipient, I’ve seen what happens when a community invests in young people. The return isn’t measured in dollars, it’s measured in lives changed, futures built, and stronger communities. #Nanaimo

A great way to celebrate #educationweek 🎓! A big thanks to @bcsta.bsky.social for your welcome - and to everyone in attendance for your ongoing commitment to lifting up the next generation! I am excited about what we will continue to build together in B.C.! ✏️📚

Happy Easter!

For Christians, today is the holiest day on the calendar, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

People of all walks of life are coming together with friends and family to eat good food with good company. And of course, with lots of chocolate eggs for the kids.

Recently visited Hopcott Farms in Pitt Meadows, a multi-generational family operation. From cranberry fields to the butcher shop, it’s a great opportunity to shop local. When we #BuyBC, we get fresh products, support our neighbours and strengthen our local economy.

Today, we celebrate the achievements of transgender, Two-Spirit and non-binary people. Today is also a reminder that not everyone is free to live their lives safely. Many still face hate and discrimination, and struggle to access the life-saving health care and supports. (1/3)

⚽ Investing in B.C. communities! $5.1M+ in Community Gaming Grants will support 39 nonprofits with capital projects across the province. In Surrey, Surrey United Soccer club received $250K to help build a more inclusive, year-round multi-sport hub. Stronger spaces. Stronger communities. 💙 #BCpoli
