TW: Gun violence These details are shocking and, as a parent, they are worse than I ever imagined. These corporations urgently need mandatory and strict regulations. This is not a partisan issue. We need to come together and demand protections from these corporations who put our children at risk.

Yesterday I wrote to Federal Ministers Sean Fraser, Evan Solomon, and Marc Miller with specific policy asks for changes to our Criminal Code. Amendments like these would send a clear signal to AI providers to design their products safely for everyone, or face the consequences.

British Columbians deserve confidence that companies operating AI technologies have clear responsibilities to prevent harm. As part of the response to the Tumbler Ridge tragedy, I have written to Federal Minsters Sean Fraser, Evan Solomon, and Marc Miller asking for changes to the Criminal Code.

There needs to be human and corporate accountability for the dangerous actions of AI. These amendments would send a clear signal to AI providers to design their products safely or face the consequences.

Today, we’re taking OpenAI to court in California. The people of Tumbler Ridge deserve answers. Canadians everywhere are concerned about AI safety. Even the CEOs of these companies are looking to slow down the technology. So are we. We will continue to pursue accountability to keep people safe.

When survivors come forward, they need a #justice system that responds with consistency, accountability, and support. One year since the Stanton report, we’ve addressed 19 of 21 recommendations to strengthen BC’s response to intimate-partner and sexual violence, and we'll continue that momentum.

Thank you to all the local government representatives who took the time to meet with me during #UBCM2026 in Vancouver! I always appreciate getting the chance to hear directly from communities what their needs are, and how we can collaboratively work together for people across BC.

Congratulations to Manitoba for being the newest member of the permanent Daylight Saving Time club! We led the way earlier this year with the change, & now people living in BC, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba no longer have to change their clocks come November 1!

IPV survivors experience our justice system as a single pathway, not as separate institutions. When things aren’t aligned that means survivors are unsupported. Grateful for @endingviolence.bsky.social, who is on the frontline of this work, and for bringing hosting this roundtable discussion today.

Everyone should feel welcome in their community. That's why we're supporting local projects that bring people together, address racism, and celebrate diverse cultures. BC non-profits can now apply by October 19th, 2026 for up to $5,000 through the new BC Inclusive Communities Grants. #AntiRacism

Connecting one million people to primary care shows that our plan is working. We won’t stop until every British Columbian who wants a family doctor or nurse practitioner has one.

Have you ever been charged for a subscription renewal you forgot about? 😡 People in BC now have stronger protections requiring businesses to provide advance notice before renewing certain subscriptions. You should be able to decide if you still want the service, or cancel without extra fees.

The walk to school is often a child's first step towards independence & it should be a safe one. School's back Sept. 8, so slow down in school zones & watch for kids. With ICBC & local communities, we're making streets around schools safer for kids, one crossing at a time. @lisabeare.bsky.social

We are proud of our cadets. 🇨🇦 If anyone would like a lesson in leadership, morality, discipline, and fortitude – I happen to know some young British Columbians who you can model yourself after.

Canadian children deserve the same online protections as American children. Following a recent US settlement, Meta is implementing new safeguards for users under 18. These protections should be available here in Canada too & we’re calling on Meta to implement them immediately. news.gov.bc.ca/34219

Have you ever been charged for a subscription you forgot about or had an unexpected increase appear on your credit card? No more hidden fees, surprise charges or predatory sales tactics taking money out of your pocket! We’re strengthening consumer protections to give people more control & save money

While the BC Conservatives are saying healthcare should “take the brunt” of budget cuts, we’re investing in the next generation of doctors. Welcome to our new medical students at SFU!

David Eby@davidebybc.bsky.social

Today the next generation of doctors starts classes at the new SFU Medical School - a major step in our plan to strengthen healthcare for British Columbians.

Wishing everyone a Happy Pride!!! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️💕

As people gather in Vancouver this weekend to celebrate Pride, we join in recognizing the diversity, strength and spirit of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across BC. It's a time to celebrate progress and the right of people to live, love and thrive as their authentic selves. Happy Pride!

We’re building B.C.’s economy and reducing our reliance on the United States. That means investing in major projects and the skilled workers needed to build them.

During #ChineseCulturalHeritageWeek, we celebrate the generations of Chinese Canadians who have helped shape BC’s arts, culture, cuisine, and business. Despite a history of discrimination and exclusion, for over 200 years their resilience and contributions have enriched communities across BC.

Consumer Protection BC is working to provide BC consumers misled by door-to-door sales tactics with refunds totally approx. $113,000. Upcoming changes to BC’s consumer protection laws will make at-the-door financing unlawful, and if it happens in BC, we want to hear about it.

People want a justice system they can understand, access, & trust. I welcome the revisions the BCPS has made this week to its guidelines for Crown Counsel as a key step forward in building a #justice system that protects people, upholds rights, & reflects the real concerns of people across BC.

For years, people south of the Fraser, including many members of the South Asian community, have had to travel abroad or transport a loved one’s ashes overseas to carry out funeral rites. This project shows how communities can create inclusive public spaces that respect cultural & faith traditions.

Exciting to see the US House of Representatives pass this bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. BC led the way in adopting permanent DST earlier this year, and I’m glad to see that our American neighbours will be in alignment with us going forward.

SWIFT action on an online harm! The sharing of intimate images without consent is wrong and devastating for victims of this type of sexual abuse. I am glad to see that the woman who experienced this abuse was able to get compensation swiftly through the CRT.

This July marks the second #TaiwaneseHeritageMonth in BC! I encourage everyone in BC to get out there & learn more about Taiwanese history, culture, & the important contributions they have made to shaping our province - from food, music, & the arts to entrepreneurship, philanthropy, & innovation.

It’s been one week since our landmark deal with the federal government bringing billions of dollars in investment into B.C.!   Some highlights: skilled trades training, creating more opportunities close to home, supporting good, unionized jobs, and advancing affordable childcare.

People in BC have been calling for practical reforms to our justice system addressing IPV, repeat offending, the exploitation of children & violent crime. We appreciate that BC’s ideas were incorporated in Bills C-14, 16 & 9, making specific changes to the Criminal Code to keep our communities safe

We must do everything we can to ensure the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge never happens again. BC is pursuing legal action to hold OpenAI and its decision makers accountable for failing to take action that could have prevented the tragedy.
