I'm heading to the Bay Area to participate in several events: tomorrow a panel @ SF Public Library that revisits some key themes on Black Horror & Black Healing we began discussing last year. I'll also be attending my first World Fantasy Convention Thurs-Sat! Excited!

Intrigued by everything on this cover: artwork, title, and blurb!

Happy Release Day to @feliciafm.bsky.social and her gorgeous scifi fantasy novella, THESE BRIGHT AND PERILOUS DESIGNS! Absolutely love this story and we're so excited it's out in the world today! geni.us/TBAPD

The audiobook for A WALL IS ALSO A ROAD is low-key blowing up, and it's all because of the incredible narrator Jess Nahikian, who is delivering queer David Attenborough vibes. Here is a delicious sample for you to hear! Get the audiobook wherever they are sold, or check it out from your library!

Happy publication day to @annaleen.bsky.social! A Wall Is Also A Road sounds bonkers and wonderful!

Reach your tentacles into A WALL IS ALSO A ROAD because it is on shelves today 10/6! I'll be at Green Apple Books on the Park tonight at 7pm with @olivasthewriter.bsky.social to celebrate! Tomorrow: Chicago!

Out today, The Occidental Book of the Dead by T. Geronimo Johnson. I really liked his sharp and darkly funny Welcome to Braggsville, so I'm looking forward to making time for this big new novel.

THE OCCIDENTAL BOOK OF THE DEAD: A (really long) Novel by T. GERONIMO JOHNSON via William Morrow is OUT TODAY: #Booksky expendablemudge.blogspot.com/2026/10/the-...

I've been waiting with some trepidation for Life Out of Order, the sequel to The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Thrilled to see that @charliejaneanders.com has an enthusiastic review! (Which I'm holding off on reading for now, since I want to go into the book without knowing any more.)

Do you know what to do if you feel earthquake shaking? If you live in North America and the ground starts to shake the recommended action is to “drop, cover, and hold on”.

While ordering directly from the publisher (dancingstarpress.com/product/a-ho...) results in higher royalties for the author, sometimes in ebooks, you can't beat convenience. Check to see if your favorite ebook vendor is listed here!

#FridayReads Last night I started reading The Department of What it (Really) Means to be Human by @darusha.ca, and I'm hooked! Fascinated by the mystery of the missing artist, intrigued by how the other threads of the story will come into play!

#FridayReads Enjoying the travelogue and coming-of-age narrative in Taipei Story by R.F. Kuang. A very different style of novel from Babel and Katabasis, and from Yellowface, and clearly quite personal.

Doll Seed is a great, and indeed rather spooky, collection!

Happy Book Birthday! Doll Seed has been in the world for two years! It was amazing to launch this book of speculative stories that center women and girls of color during #BlackSpeculativeFiction month! For spooky month I’m dressing up my table in the hall. @auntlute.bsky.social

While browsing in a used bookstore, I picked up Living By Fiction by Annie Dillard. I don't have much familiarity with her work, but have been curious since her recent death. This is a book of literary criticism about the art of fiction.

I also ordered The Department of What it (Really) Means to be Human by @darusha.ca some time ago, but the book has been out of stock until a recent distribution change. An "optimistic near-future literary SF mystery" sounds great to me!

I pre-ordered Revolution in the Heart: Stories Inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin (edited by @jonathanstrahan.bsky.social) more than a year ago, thinking it was about to be published. After some confusion about why the order hadn't shipped, I noticed the 2026 release date. But now that's finally now!

12 years of @worstbestsellers.bsky.social, and there are still funny and insightful things to say about the unceasing firehose of bad books. Happy birthday, WBS!

#FridayReads Just finished reading Wickhills, and it was a wild and exciting adventure!

#FridayReads Enjoying the exciting and delightful Wickhills by @premeemohamed.com! There's a spy agency, a smuggled defector bringing dangerous news, and neighborhoods overrun with columns and glass churches that sprout up like weeds. And now I must return to reading and find out what else!
