:) Visiting the fist solar project I will own. Its purpose, along with another 2-3 MWdc worth, will be to support a core company of ~10-14 people. From here, the attacks launch.

Good reminder that I need to remember to drop my ballot off. No way I’m mailing that thing. Early voting in MA started on the 17th. Please vote.

Good morning. Two weeks to Election Day. WTI Crude > $108

Still not sure what true cost of a solar panel is. China, India, & the US all heavily subsidize their manufacturing. China suggesting profitable is ~$.10/W within their system. Indian prices are higher - maybe $.15/W. US closer to $.30/W (maybe). India price subsidized too - not as much as China.

They say you can get fast, cheap, and high quality - but not all three. Well, solar is fastest and cheapest. Well, Germany and California are showing increasing renewable grid penetration and are showing increasing uptime. Australia too. Sun 🌞 rises everyday.

5. Solar is still the cheapest source of bulk electricity in many countries, and the quickest to deploy, and now you couldn't stop it if you wanted to. The limits to PV build in most places that aren’t yet running into saturation effects are grid access and permitting.

Trump’s kiddie accounts let billionaires dump shares they can’t sell fast enough, then lock the tykes in for five years, so it’s really less a savings plan than a bailout with crayons.

It used to be, the powergrid people made their money on daytime electricity, and big money during heatwaves when the wholesale prices went through the roof. Now, those are just sunny days, and wholesale electricity pricing is starting to fall around the world. Further ingenuity will come. #bullish

Jenny Chase@solarchase.bsky.social

4. This leads to negative feedback mechanisms: low wholesale power prices in sunny hours, which in forward-looking jurisdictions are passed on to consumers. For example, Australia’s Solar Sharer scheme obliges many utilities to offer a price plan with 3 hours of free power around midday.

930 MW - starting to look like California :-)

Christian Roselund@roselund.bsky.social

The following afternoon, when #solar joined the wind, we hit the lowest gas plant output I've seen to date: 930 MW at 1 PM (sub-hourly figures show even lower around 2:30 PM). We haven't had gas burn this low since May, when we also had lots of solar and minimal demand. /2

Interesting chart, slightly off. 1. It’s solar cells, not modules. Normies don’t buy cells - they buy modules. However, cells are the global bottleneck getting worked right now - making chart relevant. 2. FirstSolar doesn’t make cells, but it’s 20 GW+ capacity is real. U.S. value 2-3X higher.

ysy1976.bsky.social@ysy1976.bsky.social

India is the second largest solar PV manufacturer in the world, but the gap between #2 and #1 is quite something.

TRUTH - Zelenskyy sees that Putin/KGB/FSB/GRU/IRA’s entire global Fascist movement, (including installment of many Kremlin puppets like Assad, Yanukovych, Trump, Orban, Le Pen, Bolsonaro, AFD, etc.), starts with Putin’s global disinformation/propaganda/indoctrination/radicalization campaigns online.

This is the sin of modern social media. However, establishment media set the table by ceasing to be information - but instead entertainment. Of course, Information has always had issues with it being controlled, manipulated, and weaponized - but man are we good at drilling it in deep these days.

There are millions of bots commenting and posting Russian propaganda. There are paid influencers spreading it, with Russian bots supporting their content. There is a gigantic machine operating to radicalize and influence Western societies, and there is not enough defense in place.
