Charity season at work means that the office is absolutely *covered* in ai posters for the various events. It used to be clip/smart art. Single PowerPoint slide printed out.

For all that it means, Ottawa Ottawa'ed about as well as Ottawa tends to Ottawa for yesterday's election. At least where my preferences were concerned, they were reflected in the results of the ward and school board elections I participated in.

“participated” = “voted”, of course. Now if turnout could at least tickle 50% or something, that might be nice. 36%, regardless of how uninspiring you might have found the candidates, isn’t super great.

I get it in some ways: it’s hard to pledge to lift the spirits when (a) the city’s culture of “nah” looms over everything; and (b) even when it’s not looming, the province will just bigfoot anything it doesn’t like anyway. It’s one of the worst parts of our constitutional framework. At least IMO.

I voted a few weeks ago during the advance polls, but yay-yay municipal election day for those who haven’t yet! I had a certain candidate show up at my door yesterday. They likely would have been surprised to see me at the door had they knocked instead of attaching a hanger.

I’m chatty on here today becuase it’s a thinky-work day at work today. Basically internal marketing for bureaucrats. Less Kermit at the keyboard (though my keyboard is a very satisfying experience) and more “how the heck can I say this???” followed by a little pecking, a backspace, pecking, backs…

I still don’t like that I have an Instagram account, but gosh if it hasn’t given me exactly what I was hoping for from it. I’d love to delete it, but I’d begin missing out on more or less everything of interest happening in town again. I still wish people would find somewhere else to be.

I always seem to go back-and-forth with using web fonts (having a preference for the simplicity of web *safe* fonts and no downloads), but while I like Courier, I've had an infatuation with JuliaMono since I learned about it a year or two ago and can't help myself. juliamono.netlify.app

Otherwise, I think I spent a bit of the energy I'd normally use for hobbies on writing out feelings. I get many of them and don't want to bother Kathleen too much (volumewise) and am a bit selective maintaining a relationship with a therapist, so I also blogged at lottiejoy.ca/blog.

It's also what I use in terminal, text editor (CotEditor) and my markdown editor (uFocus). Love mono fonts. 💜 Of course, if you block web fonts (as some prefer to), then it's plain old Courier first (I don't like Courier New - too thin), then whatever default mono you have installed.

I don't think I *really* have two rolls in me today, but I would love to see where the rest of my freezer slide is, where its integrity is concerned. The Velvia 50 expired in 2021 and while it has been frozen since fresh, I have my doubts. The Provia 100F in 2024 and frozen too, but I trust it.

A little blast from the past: the first roll I ever put through the Konica Pearl was Lomo Potsdam that went fat... ...and the roll of Potsdam I finished today did too. While I'm sure that whatever damage would be done is done, but it's still living in this handy canister until I develop.
