updated reisen's touhou wiki page, there's a lot of things big and small that actually went undocumented so I tried to add as much as I could. here are some fun bits

no fun allowed

LudicrousFPS@ludicrousfps.bsky.social

I saw someone say "whoever wrote yuiman’s description for the wiki wanted her carnally" and IT'S FUCKING TRUE?? ONLY A YUIMAN FAN COULD WRITE THIS PARAGRAPH it's also ALWAYS been like this, the editor really just went for the poach on day one of release

for emotional catharsis, an underrated moment (not shmup 1cc) definitely was my east coast stamina 15 set for ITG playing my third 14 of the set already tired from the 5 other songs, eurobeat blazing, calves tearing up, when I beat that last song I just collapsed and screamed for a minute straight

the reason I made this post is to show that reisen and marisa have a *very* storied history of disliking each other LOL

LudicrousFPS@ludicrousfps.bsky.social

fun fact: reisen is one of the characters that marisa has the most seperate interactions with and the character that reisen has the most separate interactions with is marisa

fun fact: reisen is one of the characters that marisa has the most seperate interactions with and the character that reisen has the most separate interactions with is marisa

in this context "discrete interaction" is any scenario where one character talks to or talks about the other character. so marisa and alice's scenario, bad ending, and good ending in IN is 3 separate interactions. GoM and IaMP award giving are 2 separate interactions, despite the two not conversing

I forgot mariali in IN normal ending and FDS, so alice goes from 15->17 if you're curious, here's what I wrote down. I'm surprised there isn't a resource around this already

SDOJ stage 4 midboss might be one of the best designed midbosses I've ever played you must speedkill or it shoots undodgable walls but you can't bomb - you NEED a perfect route because the future of the run depends on making no mistakes in these 40 seconds (since bomb/autobomb = no secret extend)

every attack is consistent, but nothing is truly static so you still have to pay attention. even if doesn't necessarily contain the most difficult dodges, it's still a very scary moment, though it rewards practice heavily

a funny thing is that if you have only one bomb here, it's actually safer to purposefully trigger atuobomb before the midboss, so if you accidentally die you can still get the secret extend. I love resource routing like that

"gradius is easy" nvm I just actually played it for an hour. gradius is harder than SDOJ send post

this picture doesn't have old games because 1. I fucking suck at old shmups 2. I hate playing a lot of old shmups (you will NEVER catch my ass on dragon spirit again) 3. skill sets between old and new are very different so hard to compare I recognize like, gradius is supposedly relatively easy

ironically I think this is why I think difficulty modes are good the "genre titans" for roguelikes, all of em little timmy can pick up and beat the "genre titans" for shmups, the games people always talk about and want to play, have difficulty distribution that looks like this (unless it's touhou)

Boghog@boghogstg.bsky.social

There's a constant attitude where arcade games are not afforded the treatment that literally any other style of game would be afforded even from ppl who are supposedly into them. Every other style is allowed to have games of vastly different difficulties, but arcade games are treated as a monolith

ok looking back I actually made this picture a long time ago and a lot of it was based off STG difficulty list - futari maniac needs to go up even higher - SDOJ gen might be easier than DOJ cause of more resources - I overrated BR hyper mode badly - raiden IV is not insanely hard I was just raging

invisibly above DOJ is DFK BL and this may seem like malding but I STILL think that DFK BL is way harder than people say it is, unless you play like an absolute wimp and never boost up rank

really the thing about it is that it's not even about getting the 1CC as much as it is just actively going in with the intent of Trying Hard Not To Lose that reveals the goodness of a lot of arcade games (and the badness of plenty too!)

Gensokyo is messed up, you can fight some girl who looks 15 with a name like "Pants McShorts" and it turns out she's the god of pants and she hits you with "Trousers Sign: Twelve Billion Stitches of the Buddha" and you get ripped to pieces and told "Your pants are crying for liberation...!"

>"this time I'll beat the tlb" >plays like normal, using bombs whenever I want etc >completely forgets that you need to cap 6 flandre spells >5/6 spells capped

LudicrousFPS@ludicrousfps.bsky.social

EoSD ExNB got this in under an hour (practice + credits), maybe I should play more extra stages if they'll all be this quick to get over with (btw I didn't beat TLB, I tried using bombs but ended up getting telefragged on danmaku heart)

Hi, everyone! I'm still working hard on the Katana ZERO DLC. We made it bigger. It's the size of a full sequel, plus a soundtrack of over 30+ new songs. More updates to come. Thanks for your continued support!

replaying playing SS: TFE on serious but this time clean starting all levels. not having access to the secret weapons REALLY changes how you tackle certain fights, but it's a fresh way to replay the game it's only going to get worse not having a minigun from dunes to metropolis

LudicrousFPS@ludicrousfps.bsky.social

it's controversial, but I think strictly enforcing "clean start" (none of your weapons, ammo, health etc carry over from one level to the next) is *required* to reach the full potential of classic fps design of course custom doom 2 maps are the pinnacle of this

also wow, replaying this game after the experience boost and it's *so* much easier and less frustrating than before I remember saving and reloading certain fights dozens of times, and now I can beat them first try without breaking a sweat. I still save, but now like, once every 10 minutes

1 year anniversary: I love this heat wave we're having right now :) all is well in the world

just a week ago I was wearing t-shirts and shorts and now it's insanely cold outside help
