Was hoping it would be set in Australia and actually be a stealth remake of THE WOMEN

DiscussingFilm@discussingfilm.net

HBO is officially developing ‘THE BIRDS’, a new series inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film. Starring Sarah Snook, the series is a modern-day reimagining of the film set in Alaska with a murder mystery at the center. (Source: Deadline)

If I could get every cinephile friend of mine to watch only one movie this year, this would be it.

Remember that the most likely outcome is still a fair election marred by isolated incidents and Trump whining a lot, Dems taking the House and maybe the Senate, and right wing influencers declaring they're done with Trump while still supporting his worst ideas. www.patreon.com/MikeRothschi...

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

erininthemorning.comDon’t Vote For The Worst Anti-Trans DemocratsThe Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them.

40 years of a classic childhood-ruining cartoon, and now I find out in this article that some of the animators drew naughty pics of the lead characters for fun, which, in context, feels like a very weird fetish. www.cartoonbrew.com/feature-film...

Gonna be insufferably reminding my colleagues from now through December that aside from the skull, this is entirely a practical costume.

the space DUI occupies is low key one of the most insane things about car culture. it's both heavily stigmatized for obvious reasons, while also sort of tacitly generally accepted as common practice to the point of legally requiring BLACKOUT ZONE BAR & GRILL to have a minimum number of parking spots

this is a first: "don't build a protected bike lane/pedestrian crossing because a drunk driver will hit it"

Is it weird how much I dislike directing duos having a made-up collective name? "Daniels" is just about acceptable. But every time I get a press release that says something like "From visionary directing team BLURPER FART..." I think maybe the DGA should have a rule.

Silly ironic use of Stairway to Heaven -- and change of time period -- aside, that actually looked like a pretty solid Narnia adaptation.

With all the dogging on James Hetfield (whose politics ARE bullshit, so he's not entirely wrong), can we at least agree it's good to see the fu manchu stache again?

The goal of the bad stand-up guy was to trend as a topic because you all complain about his bad stand-up. Ignoring him seems better.

I'm not gonna write to embargoes because I don't have to. You'll see my reviews of two major TV shows this week when they are ready

It's fitting that Ultron in #VisionQuest effectively "cross-dresses" in human form in most of his scenes, because James Spader plays him like the cattiest drag queen in cyberspace. Show itself is a mixed bag, but his casting in the role has finally really paid off.

LETTERMAN: In fact Digger is doing so poorly that Tom Cruise has been using the empty theaters to hide Shelly Miscavige. [big bass sting from the band, scattered laughs, some "ooohs"] Have you seen Shelly Miscavige lately, Paul? SHAFFER [smiling]: Not recently, Dave.

When an article defending a Tom Cruise movie includes a humblebrag about conducting a Q&A with Tom Cruise, I tend to side-eye a little bit.

The idea that the most sadistic military wins is denied by history and intelligent fiction. From the Nazis to the Commies to the Klingons, cruelty based armies always fall to more diverse ones. So far we don't have more diverse enemies in the US. But give it time.

While we're revisiting stuff like East of Eden, we are LONG overdue for new THE GRAPES OF WRATH (sorry, but the original is Code-compromised as HELL) and THE JUNGLE adaptations

AI slop isn't less shit because you made anti-trump stuff with it. Doesn't change the fact there's child porn in the training data and you're evaporating a lake every time you make it. Insane how you can profess to hate trump and then use the tech he loves so much and profits off of anyway.

"there's an awesome Godzilla Minus Zero popcorn bucket!" Yay "It costs even more than Super7's decidedly non-cheap, fully articulated action figure!" okay, fuck off then
