Boy got me a (thank u i love you) used 2021 Macbook Pro (M1 Pro) so I can escape Windows, convert my desktop to Linux while still having a computer that can run Ableton, and host my external audio gear properly. This is such a fancy device. Wow! I'm not used to such luxury.

Do you know how annoying it is to go downstairs to heat up the kettle and the air is a visibly thick layer of weed smoke every single day? Then you say you have a headache, and they blame everything they can as a fault of your own character and not the weed smoke.

I am not anti-weed but don’t smoke flower in the fucking living room with the doors and windows closed. Take an edible, smoke a vape, or go outside.

Got a bone blank and made a new nut for my JM! Did it need a new nut? No. But I figured I should learn how to do nut work, and the crappy plastic nut on the JM was worth upgrading anyway.

This lyft driver is playing the most generic boring christian rock music ever possibly written. I don’t even understand why these bands exist outside of worship services because every single song sounds the exact same and the lyrics only vary ever so slightly.

We are almost at the point where I've gotta put one of the Moog's back in its home case. Probably the Labyrinth first. I have a pretty firm plan for an endgame and glad to see things coming together. Next is a Patching Panda Operat.

Most of this rack is built from stuff I found used at my local music store, just grabbed stuff I thought might be useful, and as I went I have narrowed down what I want based on what I struggle to achieve. Once I have my endgame done I can take pieces out to make simpler small skiffs as challenges.

I don’t have a thing against chewing noises… unless your mouth is open, smacking lips, heavy breathing, exaggerated noises. Why are so many people incapable of chewing with their mouths closed at work.

I've been using a desktop-mounted mic arm I got from IKEA for the last 3 years and the mount just falls into parts at least once at month and I have to find all the parts and reassemble it. So I just said fuck it and got a nicer/overbuilt mic arm and yeah, this this worth it.

My favourite experience of modern mobile browsing is when I’m reading an article and have to fight the page constantly jittering up and down as ads load and fill the page. I love having to scroll constantly just to look at a single line of text. I don’t actually. Modern websites are just terrible.

Found this MiJ early 1980s Epiphone 12-string at a pawn shop for $50. It was pretty bad-off. Caked in grime and covered in cracks in various places. Took it home, cleaned it, repaired it, did a setup, and it’s playing pretty decent now! Pretty proud that I could get it to this point.

New guy at work. He's very obviously queer. I notice he goes by a different name on the posted schedule than the name he goes by with other coworkers. So I ask him which of those he prefers, he tells me, thanks me for even asking, and he seemed happy someone cared. It doesn't take a whole lot.

I got my offer yesterday. They told me 7K. That's less than what I need. I need that 10K. But... they also offered me a full on promotion. Normally a "promotion" is just a word of mouth upgrade, but I'd get a formal title, and additional authority in the building without more responsibility.

Today is my compensation meeting at work. They want to keep me. I want to stay. But the warehouse moving 2 hours away necessitates a pay raise so I can afford to move closer. I’m asking for a 12K raise and not taking less than 10K. So let’s see.

I think considering the 7K is in the short term less than I need, if I make some adjustments to my living situation it could end up being a real raise in the future. And making as much as I would be is going to be really difficult for me to achieve elsewhere in this market.

TL;DR. It's a pay cut now, cuz I'd need to spend so much on transportation. But it gives me options to move to work later on and afford it more comfortably. I should just take the short term annoyance hit, and accept.

Point and laugh at a man who thinks we should be constantly exposed to people who make it abundantly clear they want us dead.

i think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.

AI isn’t being adopted by most people and we -still- need this many data centres? Imagine how many we’d need if people -did- adopt it. My point being; we can’t adopt it.

I don't really have any friends that know anything about music stuff, I mostly mean the making music and not the listening music. So I end up spending a lot of time at the instrument store talking to a handful of the workers about all my music nerd stuff when I go there. Depressing? Yeah.

One of the many sucky things about these 13-day-straight work weeks is me waking up on a Sat/Sun seeing my guitar on its stand as I leave knowing I could be playing that instead of working.

Saw an article asking whether Fender or Gibson headstocks are better and the spice is Gibson headstocks are terrible. Ugly, and poor function. Break easily, bad string angles at the nut. There’s a reason most headstocks mimic Fender.

I think one major draw for me to (analogue) synthesizers, guitars, traditional amps, etc, is they’re unbound by toxic tech culture. Modellers are cool but you’re gonna get trapped in ecosystems.

Well I weighed myself for the first time in a long time yesterday. I have lost about 10lb since I started vyvanse. So I’m back on getting my calories up with mass gainer shakes. Wee.

Reading guitar/bass tabs of songs reminds me constantly that I do not in fact need to make hyper complicated music in order to make good music but I cant help but feel anything simple is not enough. I really need to have music friends who I can work with / bounce off of to get me in a groove.

I keep getting ads for the new astrology feature of Tinder. First, I don’t use dating apps. Why am I getting these. I love my boy. Second, they spent a lot of money on an ad campaign for a feature not a lot of people will care about.

In my journey of cutting caffeine, I swapped my coffee pods I bring to work to decaf and I drink just as much coffee. Bitches never believe when someone says they just like coffee, and it’s not just the caffeine.

To be clear I’m not dedicated to a JM pickup. Most single coils I could take it or leave it. Most are too harsh to my ears. But I wanted a set in my arsenal cuz buckers just don’t work sometimes. P-90s are usually my preference. Time to play some Doom.

I’ve been wondering if my chronic leg pain is RLS so I’ve been following all of the recommendations to aid in it and it does help a bit. Sadly that means I need to heavily cut down caffeine and all of the drinks I like to drink and relax with have caffeine.
