its insane how not many people are talking about how republicans with the help of several moderate democrats are building out the largest abusive medical conversion therapy operation in modern american history

I finished an 8-week Commedia Dell’Arte acting class today and it felt really great! Been a long time since I found a hobby that’s both infinitely challenging & infinitely rewarding So yeah, I plan to pursue theater production & performance for a bit and see where that takes me

the idea of some random guy making his chatbot write a press release about how his chatbot is a bad employee then emailing it to a bunch of journalists is still cracking me up, it’s so good. I really liked this one

The wildest one of these I got was a three PDF "press release" rollout from someone who said his ChatGPT sometimes got something wrong and that OpenAI didn't respond to his support ticket and fashioned himself as a kind of big tech whistleblower

During the Q&A, I asked: “Since you talked about needing to be economical in 3 panels, can you speak about any of your own self-imposed limitations when you work on a comic?” Beetle Moses gave a great answer describing a bunch more about his creative process :D

At a Beetle Moses book signing! :)

This is a tiny thing, but it’s always real fascinating to see how diff artists hold their pen… Ever since seeing Tradd Moore post this WIP below, I can’t not notice it lol

Nice argument, but I have drawn myself as the smug Rally Vincent and you as the diminutive and annoyed "Minnie" May Hopkins.

There is little meritocracy or competition when it comes to Democratic consultants—they get paid the same regardless of how their candidates perform in the election.

I remember playing Aria of Sorrow as a kid & thinking “If this game is in 2035, what’s with the bellbottoms?” Ofc, now we know it was stupid to assume I understood fashion better than Ayami Kojima? They’re already in style now & for sure will cycle back around by 2035 Anyway, love this art lol

I have been meaning to write about this for a month or so now but it breaks my heart. AI has infected every hobby. Everything is noise. It's hurting existing communities and trudging through the slop is exhausting.

Every single hobby I love has has been infected by slopped up and unserious software. It's exhausting. aftermath.site/ai-slop-hobbie...

Delirious, 2:00AM :: ✍️ It is shocking how much good art there is; today, this year, in recent years. My brain is enriched by life-changing work at a level of Victorian excess. Yet every thorough conversation I have, indeed at least once a day, turns to the topic of how fucked it is —

I am not the kind of man, for better or worse, who is even able to harness my anger & sadness into violence. I dream of the famed Doohickey of History, be it a gun or a guillotine; I dream of righteous comedic cosmic correction.

There will be a conclusion, in whatever form that takes. The only thing I can guarantee is that you must take care of yourself and your community so that we can even see the day when there’s a future worth imagining.

in fact, had a convo w/ my brother today about Coyote vs Acme, then about animation, then inevitably about private equity & EA & today’s news of BioWare being killed — it is a Six Degrees of Separation game where we are constantly closer than we think to grim talk of inequity and the death of joy.

is the insight into being so self-absorbed into stories of your own construction that you can no longer participate in a shared reality. Fully consumptive of your own truth. This is a symptom seen everywhere today, most nakedly in tech & finance micro-celebrities, but now just coworkers & shit?

And Fielder in particular has always been genuinely fascinated with the interplay between real-life constructed narratives and the way those refracted truths are acted upon by others. Like, I cannot imagine being in his shoes and coming to realize the shape of this project coming together. Fuck.

EVERY documentary struggles w/ this basic truth — that the mere act of filming it & editing it must, inevitably, affect its own reliability as a source of information. The way You Can See Everything confronts this is so incredibly bizarre & playful & brilliant that I’m awestruck.

To be crystal clear — and because I’ve seen ppl talking abt this movie with kid gloves on — I think there is no question that Liz and Billy are manipulative & caught lying, in different ways. The truth of this question does not alter much. Instead, what’s here to ME, and far more interesting,

Christ. What an achievement. A story deeply interrogative of how ppl TELL stories to each other — from legal record to hearsay, from video evidence to “can you believe he said this?” gossip w/ friends. Every story is a prism of perception against truth, and Nathan Fielder’s work is SO about THIS

It is ingenious how Amanda becomes the audience perspective & the pressure-release valve halfway into the movie. This move opens up Nathan to no longer bear the burden of absolute objectivity, and the film can then start to interrogate his own perspective.

the world in my lifetime used to be a really beautiful, strange, occasionally cynical but always new, place. it's been difficult in the last year to feel like that world has died, replaced with nothing but a recycled version of itself. most of us sleepwalking, the few of us awake perpetually crying.

guys the PHP vuln is the real version of that fake “Ukraine destroyed a Russian datacenter and all the botnets stopped” story

just wanted to share something i discovered the amount of games released in 2022 compared to this year has increased by 77%. I use 2022 because that marks the last year before AI really took over the internet whats crazy to me is that the amount of games with ZERO REVIEWS has ALMOST TRIPLED. ZERO?

Knock on effect on all of this isn't just "Horse Concert Cancelled", it's going to scare off a lot of other Japanese media franchises' attempts to bring guests over period. You plan for a year and oops, you're now in the red on budget, good will, everyone's planned schedules, and more.
