This is the end of a post on the 6,000 miles from civilisation blog I read in August 2016. It nicely wrapped up a spookily familiar-feeling discussion I'd had about the same topic.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
I of course loved him as Chekov, but playing Bester on BABYLON 5 really showed his range. You really forgot the guy ever *was* Chekov in that role.
RIP Walter Koenig.

The G155E HA1 mutation in A/H1N1 haemagglutinin seems (if I'm reading this correctly) to have taken off around April.
But it was around in Jan 2025- the first submitted one I can see is from Victoria, Australia, then Japan- but in 2026 it seems set in D.3.1.1.
