I make websites, mainly the visual part. Is web designer still démodé? Not vintage yet? Let’s say product engineer. I'm also a dad and a gamer. davide.consulting

On an unrelated note: I upgraded to macOS Tahoe last night. I apologize for the negativity but the UI is just so ugly I instantly regretted the upgrade. And now I learn that it drains the battery, which I noticed during the day today. It's not lasting nearly as long as it usually does. Great. 😭

View transitions, anchor positioning, @scope, focusgroup, invokers, popovers, container queries, grid, relative colors, style-able selects, and more. The web feels like it’s getting so good at exactly the moment our collective worst practices are getting calcified as the default.

For people who think it's useless because we can simply define max/min-width are missing the point. It's not only about that specific case, but also about any combination that involves other values as well.

💡 CSS Tip! Have you ever tried to use "auto" within clamp()? Unfortunately, it doesn't work, but it's now possible using the new calc-size()! css-tip.com/clamp-auto/ The same applies to all the sizing values (min-content, max-content, fit-content, etc.)

I’ve updated my Pomodoro technique and working playlist all at once. It’s good not to have a precise counter but to follow the flow till you have to change the vinyl side. Also Listening to an entire album instead of random songs on Spotify is an experience I suggest reviving sometimes

Today, I visited the Google Accessibility Discover Center in Milan. It’s a fantastic journey, and experiencing firsthand all the ways someone can navigate the a11y spectrum is something every crafter should do. ADC is open across Europe. Search for the ones near you and do you a favour, book a visit

#CSS linear() easing can be soft, subtle and minimal OR firm, tense and loud here's how I'm using it in a few areas of my site ❤️ so fun.

Updated the demo to include a button that shows your local time. Now it's a real clock! ⏰ Anyone for some testing? 👇 I don't expect it to be super accurate but still a funny #CSS experimentation.

A CSS-only clock that shows you the current time? Why not! Demo: css-tip.com/clock/ Don't try to find the hidden JavaScript, it's 100% #CSS magic and it's accurate! ⚠️ a chrome only experimentation⚠️

One of my 2024 (yes, two thousand twenty-FOUR) was to try some Effect-TS. I tried it 4/5 years ago, but it wasn’t even close to the new stable version. By the way, I never had the chance during the year. But today is still 2024, no? So here I am. Let’s dig into some functional hell before New Eve.

Periodic workstation setup update. You can spot two new shiny elements! A crow lamp from Italian designer Marcantonio. And… the new M4 Mac mini is finally in its place! #workstation #seletti #setup #marcantonio #m4 #macmini

... Manipulating the DOM is really easy, and a lot of common patterns are already there. The sad part is that I have to make peace with myself about all those refs. values here and there. And some of the syntaxes in the template (I know this is the web standard, I know) are... horrible. ...

A really simple Vue Tabs Components, fully accessible, with a cool (?) gooey effect! I have to say that after years of React and Web Components, Vue is a really nice framework to work with. Okay, I've only made one (not so easy-to-implement) component, but I was able to replicate ...

... Compound component patterns, recreate some of my evergreen hooks (useMedia ❤️), and learn a ton of stuff. So Are you still there? Would you like to know what I think? Let me say: having CSS as a first-citizen is a pleasure. Even better, it makes React really laughable.

Playing with Vue for Xmas. After years of React, having a framework where CSS is a first-citizen is really cool. There are no dependencies, no weird stuff. Everything works off the shelf. Templates stil weird me of. But I will get used
