need product differentiation? overhire a #CSS front-end team and ask them to: - polish whatever - add delight wherever and watch as your product becomes smooth and buttery while everyone else's gather dust and crust UI is a huge space offering differentiation via quality

So few do this and it just seems like the easiest idea ever… I’ve been fought by CEOs over this. “These features [that no one wants or asked for] are going to turn revenue around!”

Yeah but wouldn't it be easier to keep making your product shittier and further behind until you decide to liqidate the company into your bank account, take the money, and run?

But how to find someone, who is good in CSS? Often Frontend Designers appear to be just good in Figma. But dont have a clue about more than CSS basics.

A focus on polish is the opposite of featuritus And featuritus is the current product differentiation pit everyone falls into. More crappy done features won't differentiate the way folks think it will

It's amazing how many Steam reviews come down to the UI of the game. I honestly believe it's one the most important aspects of any piece of software. Heck, Apple originally built its brand on having an easy to use UI.

I once proposed the idea of a consulting agency of tech-head gun guys (more common than most people think) who go into game studios to explain how suppressors do and don't work, smack everyone who calls magazines "clips" and make sure the AK-47s aren't ejecting to the left.

I have been consistently told to reduce the frontend resources because"it's so easy to write html and scripts, why do you need these many people?" 😤

Definitely. I am actually searching for one. If you know any please send them my way. What's interesting is that with React and JavaScript becoming more popular, a pure CSS person who really has a good eye is harder to find these days.

any recommendations for resources to learn more advance modern CSS features focused around creating better user experiences?

💯 In many companies, the underlying code doesn't matter anywhere near as much as us devs would like. The UX is what customers care about

you need to hire the very right people to give them this level of freedom tho outside tech bubble the real world is filled with “bare minumum” or “zero aesthetic” front-end engineers ☠️

And dear gods Someone make a new PoS system and implement them to registers. I've been working with ones I swear are as old as I am and None of them are good.

I wish more companies saw it this way. The industry is distracted by tooling and new dance crazes and it shows. Visit any modern website and you can see how low the bar is for what passes for production UX these days
