Third theory of why some people respond to New Tech in multiplayer games with "Uggh." They think it looks stupid.

Manic@maniacmkd.bsky.social

Two theories: they don't want to learn so the existence of tech is perceived to be solely to their detriment. It can only be used against them after all. Alternatively, it makes them feel as though they're doing it wrong by not using it, causing them to feel that they fell below the skill floor.

IMO Israel/Palestine has become a proper fulcrum of world politics not because it’s terribly important in the grand scheme of things, but because it’s the place where 25 years of War On Terror era malfeasance in the Middle East slams face first into democratic opinion and the myths of liberalism.

if you trust *anything* from 🥝-farms on minorities, you're an absolute tool. it's just 4chan for creepy stalkers daydreaming about hate crimes

Like the subject matter of the law almost doesn't matter here, it's a law that's badly conceived, badly written, just bad legislation all around already in a purely abstract jurisprudential sense. It's the kind of legislation that simply should not exist.

I'm telling you dude it's the age of loser dipshits. This whole tech sector, from the chatbots to the art generation to the voices, is built on this idea that being good at stuff is stupid and lame and somehow by not getting to enjoy the same praise skilled people do you are being denied or slighted

KetAnthropic JoshAI@ketanjoshi.co

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

It's this, and, it's also an overtly supremacist and eugenicist ideological turn. It is founded on the idea that life is supposed to crush the weak and that if you help people you're undermining society at large by preventing a natural process that would eliminate undesirable elements.

Peter@notalawyer.bsky.social

the idea that empathy is dangerous has been permeating right-wing spaces for a while, but it's not an actual element of their ideology as much as it's a defense mechanism against confronting the reality of their cruelty

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: every single interaction I see between libs/Dems and trans people always comes down to the trans person being told some version of, “shut up and do as you’re told or we’ll let the fascists kill you.”

Jessie Gender@jessiegender.bsky.social

It’s almost comical how reliably my posts go viral when I criticize electoral politics for prioritizing the status quo comfort and assimilation over meaningful change. Nothing proves my point quite like a bunch of liberals yelling at a trans person to get in line and stop expressing disappointment.

There are two reasons I never had trouble accepting Trans people. One is that I got a good biology education even before going to Uni to study it. The other is that I did read Terry Pratchett's fantastic books. If you can do both, but at bare minimum read the books!

Rhianna Pratchett@rhi.bsky.social

He was very good in person with his trans fans too. Growing up going to SF cons, I met many trans people before I even knew what trans meant. I gave my parents very little they needed to accept in their child, so they had lots left over for everyone else. 😉 www.thepinknews.com/2021/08/06/t...

because it is relevant to my work, I have tried very hard to educate myself on how AI works, be fair and measured in how I evaluate it, and regularly test new tools to confirm or debunk my priors and tbh AI haters are just nailing it with less work like 99% of the time. keep at it folks

oh you made the computer sound like a guy? it can summarize answers really fast? well life-giving liquid just falls out of the sky and a delicious tomato can just appear magically out of dirt. id say "but your thing is cool too" but id be lying. your thing is dumb as fuck compared to a tomato

does anyone else have that thing where they have a hard time focusing on things they need to focus on and doing things they need to do because they constantly feel fatigued from being in fight or flight survival mode

And this is before you factor in that the rich generally don't have to pay for things on time even if they could do so easily. Because they have more money, they're given more leniency on credit terms whereas poorer people who do take out credit often get much harsher rates.

The rich person can have a bank account run into a 6 figures overdraft and never have to worry about a direct debit bouncing because of it. A poor person will never be offered the same luxury.

The question "Is this condition overdiagnosed" is actually asking "Have we found an exceptional case of a medical issue where healthcare is too easy to get?" and the answer to that is always no. There has never, at any point, been a situation where it was too easy to get healthcare.

Much like the gargantuan fuckup that was post Cold War Russia policy, really. Say what you like about the stupid hippies, but none of us have ever been forced to rip up thirty years of diplomatic, economic, trade, financial and military strategy overnight.

It feels to me that they've decided some conditions simply aren't real, and they don't want to include them in NHS care never mind the relatively low costs, never mind the benefits, never mind the reality just: I don't approve of this & I don't think we should be pandering to it Daily Mail brain

This is, of course, simply a rhetorical play act. Suppose that people do "condemn" all these people? Well, you didn't do it enough. Did you contextualise anything? Stop that. Be more unequivocal. Now hop on one leg. I found someone not condemning them - do you condemn them too?
