If an editor can’t do this, they should not be an editor, either paid or unpaid. From my experience, “just address all reviewer comments” is prevalent.

Alejandro Montenegro@aemonten.bsky.social

An editor should clarify in the decision which points are key (and which don't require addressing). And we are always available to meet with authors to prepare a revision plan. Just because a reviewer asks for something, that doesn't mean you necessarily need to do it. Reach out if you have Qs

A new study of UK #science curricula found that of 181 scientists referenced at A-level-equivalent just 3 (!) are women: a powerful reminder to make #womenScientists visible in science education. Because if girls never see themselves represented, why would they see a future for themselves in #STEM?

It’s workshop day! With Europe moving forward on NGT-1 regulation, there is a real opportunity to strengthen crop protection through innovation. Bringing stakeholders together to discuss challenges and next steps is more important than ever. Looking forward to an afternoon of science and discussion!

Hey mycology community, Can you please email / DM me nominations of speakers that I can pass along to the organisers. They been made aware of the issue and let's turn this into a teaching moment. And thanks @mcmomany.bsky.social for sharing this list: fungalgenomes.org/wrifo/direct...

It's 2026 and diversity is still an issue in mycology, and probably beyond. 17 invited plenary & keynote speakers for IMC13, only 2 are women (<12%). There are 0 Latin-American speakers, & 2 from Africa (I'm including @kamounlab.bsky.social in this count). www.imc13.kr/html/?pmode=...

🌱New preprint 🎉 I am happy to share this last work of my PhD research! We uncover a novel role of cysteine protease RD19 in immunity. RD19 regulates RBOHD-generated ROS and is required for induced resistance responses. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... More details in the thread below! 🧵

There is no place like home 🏡 Late summer is always a whirlwind of meetings and travel. My lab and I are now slowly settling back into our routine. Being back reminds me how #grateful I am for my team, institute, and campus, and for the privilege of doing science every day, especially at the bench.

I'm excited to share that my newly funded #ERCStG FRONTERA is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers at @ipbhalle.bsky.social 🌱🔬 If you are passionate about plant immunity, proteolysis, membrane proteins, or proteomics, I'd love to hear from you. 🧵 Please RT/share!

Day 2 of #EUAgri2040. As a first-time participant, this has been quite an experience, full of learning and inspiring encounters! As @epsoeurope.bsky.social representative, I'm grateful for the opportunity to share ideas from esteemed colleagues and help strengthen plant science in Europe 🌱

Interesting debate in the bioeconomy breakout session: how can local communities be engaged in biotechnological solutions? The goal should not be to convince them afterwards, but to involve them from the start. That requires a change in mindset and better research on communication among stakeholders

Iulia Blagu (farmer) to all stakeholders in the room, including us researchers: "Your work is crucial. The challenges facing agriculture today make farming increasingly risky, reducing its financial attractiveness and making it harder to sustain the sector in the long term." #EUAgri2040

It was a pleasure to contribute to the breakout session on cropping systems, especially the discussions around crop protection and biotechnology. The remaining sessions are a bit further from my area of expertise, and I'm looking forward to listening, learning, and gaining new perspectives.

Interesting words from panel member Iulia Blagu (farmer): Innovation must be affordable, understandable, useful otherwise it has no value. We feel innovation arrives too late and it is too expensive.

Yeah!!! So exciting to see Xu presenting new work on systemins in tomato at #PPRM2026 🌱🔥Our preprint: doi.org/10.64898/202... This one feels personal. My work in the Schaller lab was on systemin signaling specificity, and now Xu has pushed the story forward by uncovering new systemins in tomato.

Nature Plants@natplants.nature.com

Xu Wang (Schaller's lab), giving a talk at #PPRM2026 about new systemins in tomato, reminds us of the 1991 Science paper from Clarence Ryan's lab that basically started the whole field: 2 kg of tomato leaves to finally extract 1 ug of systemin. Amazing biochemistry. www.science.org/doi/epdf/10....

At Peptide Receptor Meeting #PPRM2026. A theme that came back twice is re-evaluation of old published results. We know about ABP1 and the systemin receptor, but there were two other examples today: WAK1 perception of OGs, and BSU1 Tyr dephosphorylation of BIN2 in BR signalling. #PlantScience
