National hero.

Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.

I’m just a person on my fucking knees begging the government to use its absolutely massive majority to do something extremely fucking popular: save our democracy.

🚨 BREAKING: The Met Police have launched a criminal investigation into Reform UK after the Channel 4 undercover investigation on alleged secret foreign donations

@greenmirandahere.bsky.social Hi Miranda, regarding your podcast discussions on climate and energy, you might be interested in these figures on new generation. Those chasing nuclear as a solution need to reflect on its likely part in the mix.

Prof Ray Wills@profraywills.futuresmart.com.au

To be clear, 5 nuclear plants opened 2025 & 2026, with 5.2GW total capacity As construction began 2017-2019, they are not as a result of the announced x3 target But - since Dec 2023, world has installed: ☀️ Solar Power: ~1,230 GW 💨 Wind Power: ~280 GW 🔋 Battery Storage: ~185 GW ☢️ Nuclear: ~5 GW

His views get more eccentric and more generalised as the programme goes on. “The electorate will not take orders” who said they did??! “They are smarter than us” Really???

As it happens, Chris Bryant's book "Glamour Boys" is about the gay politicians who saw early the danger of Hitler and in at last one case died fighting him. Ronald Cartland's defence of Cassel in 1940 was pretty damn macho.

Peter Walker@peterwalker99.bsky.social

I've ready some pretty odd Telegraph opinion pieces in my time, but this might be the oddest. I wonder just what it is about Wes Streeting and Chris Bryant that makes the author believe they're somehow just not macho enough for government.

And management.

An amazing quote from Lindsey Graham in this Atlantic story. It really captures an essential truth about politics that too few people ever really come to terms with. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I see Ann Widdecombe has died. When she was Home Secretary I showed her round Drake Hall womens’s prison. There was a pregnant woman on a bed in the early stages of Labour and she asked the prison officers why she wasn’t handcuffed to the bed. That’s the kind of woman she was.

A war film that effectively deglamourises war by making it absent from the narrative. The Victors is a really bleak 2.5 hours that focuses on the scenes between the gunfights. It is about women in wartime from the perspective of the American soldier.

Can't wait to see how Labour's strategy of showing open contempt for the people who voted for them while desperately sucking up to people who'll never vote for them in a million years works out.

Reports of a third attempted arson attack on Jewish targets in North London this week. It's getting really scary and more people need to start taking it seriously.

@steverichards.bsky.social You should read this Steve. It’s a well-researched corrective to the “we are doomed unless we drill” narrative of your colleagues on the NAO pod.

This is actually reasonably good/balanced from Ambrose E-P about Britain's energy situation. The UK already uses much less gas as a proportion of total energy consumption and may reach energy independence in the next five years. archive.ph/Lxt0q
