Another Jason Arday situation is starting to happen in front of our eyes and not even the alternative media is reporting it.

I want to ask reporters what else exactly they want from Beth Upton. They wanted her booted out of female changing rooms, they got it. They wanted her on trial for misconduct, they got it, she was found totally blameless. They wanted her publicly named and shamed in the media, they got it…

Here’s the thing, I understand why Dennis & LGB Alliance are there. They claim to be community advocacy groups. There’s no justification for the presence of Helen Joyce, representing Sex Matters - who are no kind of LGBT advocacy group - other than ideological purposes from a transphobic government.

If you thought the Conversion Practices Bill is already bad thanks to all the loopholes and allowances it provides, then don’t worry - it’s about to get worse. The Government are hearing “evidence” from anti-trans campaigners Helen Joyce, Dennis Kavanagh and the LGB Alliance this week.

The Burnham government is happy to listen to transphobes galore but will move mountains to avoid listening to any trans people.

If you're trans, you can't work in any public facing job currently without the risk of one of a couple of dozen GCs finding out about you and campaigning for you to be sacked for "doing your fetish in public" All enabled by Rowling's funding. Then they trot out "wHaT rIgHtS dOn'T yOu HaVe???"

I think just commenting on the length of this post really buries the lede that the President of the United States wrote a post this long merely to review Real Time With Bill Maher.

Viscerally upset by the Beth Upton stuff. They won't be satisfied until they have hounded a woman – who the tribunal explicitly found had done nothing wrong – to her death. Btw the "incident" in Australia is that a patient worried she *might* be forced to be treated by her. She of course wasn't.

For an organisation so desperate to save money, the BBC seems to have an unusually large visual effects budget to spend on covering or removing queer flags and slogans.

I don’t think anything sums up how cancerous our media is quite like Janet Murray and the Daily Mail - not being content enough with having harassed Beth Upton out of the country - now harassing her in her new place of residence. They will genuinely not be happy until she’s dead.

Mark Grimshaw@markgrimshawtism.bsky.social

Janet Murray is now publicly harassing a random trans woman for choosing to get gender affirming surgery, and her real life friend for donating some money towards funding it. Janet works for the Telegraph and the Mail. This is the state of British journalism. Harassing people for being trans.

you ever think about how its legal to dox a trans woman but not legal to dox a cis man like, they're putting in the papers where she lives and works and thats just seen as totally chill and ok

(And, no, I would not be surprised if this kind of treatment at the hands of the media is the exact reason that Beth Upton appears to have changed her name to Lis - to make herself less able to be tracked down and harassed by these fucking ghouls.)

The far right is leaning into Sunak's incredibly stupid "War on trans people and asylum seekers". The terfs "rapes in hospitals" is the same emotionally laden argument as Farage's "stop the boats". As long as lying bigots keep being rewarded by Labour they will keep doing it and demanding more.

How would the UK government suggest that trans people should prepare for the hostile act of the UK government actively attempting to legislate them out of existence?

A reminder that the “trans lobby” is just trans people going about their lives, and the “fight” being referred to is JK Rowling using her money, power and influence to endorse policy that is killing trans people. I’m amazed she could move to type a new essay with the layers of blood on her hands.

The comments on this post by The Telegraph are full of support for this man, saying he has the right to decline “transgender ideology”, and that his beliefs are “protected by the Equality Act”. This is your legacy, @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social. You have empowered people to bully children. Congrats.

I don’t think anything sums up how unserious our government’s commitment to fighting antisemitism is quite like a parliamentary debate on antisemitism in schools getting sidetracked by both Labour & Tory MPs making statements about how dangerous the Greens describing ethnonationalism as racism is.

Indeed, they were calling the Greens antisemitic whilst Hannah Spencer MP is in the room to participate in helping rid antisemitism from schools, and she was granted no right of reply to these accusations.

It is fascinating how quickly the EHRC provided a response to the Green Party ‘Zionism is racism’ motion, suggesting they could be investigated as being discriminatory towards Jewish members, whilst there is absolute fucking crickets from them surrounding the racism and misogyny within Reform UK.
