Wait… skeet means ”sky tweet”? I feel both stupid and smart for thinking it had to do with skeet shooting. You know, where you launch little things into the blue sky. Also known as clay pigeons, because it’s originally about simulating killing birds… bird site…

actually, i updated this service with how to get "traditionally" verified on bluesky if you already have a verified e.g. instagram account. msg me your bluesky profile from your instagram, and the other way around, and you will get a verifysocial.org page that attests that cross-verification.

verification on here in the sense that people think of it on platforms such as instagram could be as simple as piggybacking on those platforms just via cross-verification. i created something like that with mastodon in mind a while ago, would work here too: verifysocial.org

this will also give you a "myblueskyhandle.verifysocial.org" subdomain you can use as your handle on here, and accessing that subdomain will send the visitor to the verifysocial.org user page. all of this is perpetually free, of course, it's just static data (more or less)

i feel like the whole concept of verifysocial.org could turn into a truly interesting building block for future social media in the long term, but i haven't figured out exactly how, and don't have a lot of time at the moment to figure it out either.

of course, domain verification is the elegant solution, but some ”famous” users don’t have an obvious (or any) website. they create one just for bluesky verification, defeating one of the principles of domain verification – that the domain is known to belong to that user already from before.

I just ordered pasta to go at a night-open hole in the wall, then waited outside on the curb, checking my phone. When the guy came out with my bag, a picture of pasta was coincidentally on my feed. I think he saw it and thought I had just spent the entire 10 minutes scrolling pasta, sooo eager.
