Wild: Netflix has better anti-password sharing measures than Flock, despite its data tracking where we all go. Told of our findings, Flock said it would make security changes, cracking down on shared log-ins and forcing cops to log back in every 12 hours @douglasmac.bsky.social @aaronschaffer.com

New: We found cops who kept using Flock to spy on women after they left the force. One used it for five years after retirement, tracking his wife during a custody battle. Another ran searches while he was suspended (and later fired) after killing a 15-year-old boy. Free to read: wapo.st/3UEwWU7

Was testifying on some important surveillance bills today and it seems that so few understand what this tech is capable of. Pretty alarming stuff.

To temper the backlash, communities have been switching out Flock cameras for different ALPRs with nearly identical capabilities, merely evading the negative connotation of the brand name while maintaining the surveillance. buff.ly/E60kN30

My story about the ground stops at major airports along East Coast, stems from a primary circuit and back-up fiber failures serving PHL TRACON. Also worth noting PHL Area C (i.e. EWR/TEB) have had staffing triggers for days - might get worse after this.

What do you think Flock will give them the power to do? If you think that local authorities/private companies are not sharing info w feds, you're so painfully mistaken.

Did you know that NJ prisons contract with and thus line the pockets of private prison companies at the expense of incarcerated people and their loved ones?

Other than climate change (and honestly linked to climate change), this might be the biggest problem that world governments need to team up to solve. The creation of a class of outrageously wealthy individuals, with outrageously low tax rates due to avoidance, needs a global solution.

No one should be priced out of their constitutional right to counsel. However, current NJ law allows defendants to be charged up to $200 to apply for a municipal public defender. We must pass A5639/S4396 to eliminate municipal public defender fees in the Garden State. Take action now ⬇️
