Diary entry 25 yrs ago today: America unites in patriotism, divides over retaliation vs. appeasement. We watch TV all day, fascinated and horrified. We pray, reflect, and fire off dozens of email forwards...

Diary entry 25 yrs ago today continued: .... Arab and Muslim students fear harassment and abuse as likely suspects point that way. Afghanistan is bombed in civil war, and we forget in 1 day.

The best, most informative piece on Democracy in the US I've ever read

Liberal Currents@liberalcurrents.com

“There’s libbing out of all kinds here. Moderates who’ve been at it for forty years and progressives who’ve been pushing party boundaries for ten. There are tables hawking campaign merch, staffers who look like they didn’t sleep last night, and consultants who definitely haven’t slept in a week.”

How many people can say their ribbons won a ribbon, wow

JRho@jrho.bsky.social

The most absolutely massive flex from the state fair exhibit. This quilt is made of 40 years of prize ribbons from various categories at the New Mexico State Fair won by Carol St. Clair Johnson. She also won a prize for this quilt.

Showdown in Little Tokyo isn't a good movie, but it doesn't hold back as a buddy cop movie with gone-too-soon Brandon Lee and o.g. He-Man Dolph Lungren as weeb Reacher

Great overview of how borders can be confusing and overlapping for different purposes

The Alexandria Brief@alexandriabrief.com

It happens almost every day. A shooting, a fire, a development project — described as occurring in Alexandria when the address is actually in Fairfax County.

Trump made vastly more money in crypto last year than all of the presidential salaries since the beginning of the republic combined. He made more from crypto than the salaries of every member of Congress over the past 15 years *combined*. It’s yielded a collective shrug from his fellow Republicans.

Saturday morning stroll to vote early, get eggs and fruit at the farmer's market, say hi to the mayor at a celebration of the historic firehouse, and back home within an hour. #densewalkableneighborhood

TikTok has incredible moderation team. Our InfoWars video about Multiple Horse Theory — the idea that there are many horses in the world and not just one — has been fully deemed misinformation and lost the formal appeals process. Confirmed by Larry Ellison: There is only one horse on Earth.

Recent events got me wondering - what's the difference between GRIFT and GRAFT? So I looked it up. In case you were also wondering: GRIFT is a con, a swindle, a deception to get money GRAFT is corruption, abuse of power, to get money This is my public service of the day.

I'm the author of ACA 22. I'm also adamantly opposed to it. That deserves an explanation – so I want to tell you what went down w/the ACA, and the fight over transfer taxes & the Taxpayer Protection Act. 👇

My original handle on text-based social media was overly optimistic and when a rebranding was called for I was able to get field_firstname. Have stuck with it since.

Big news: Capital Weather is now independent at CapitalWeather.com. We’re building a new home for trusted DC-area weather coverage — with around-the-clock forecasts, live updates and deeper local weather and climate coverage. 1/4

I really want to avoid investing in this, but if it is allowed to enter the s&p500 based on special permissions and funny numbers I literally won't be able to. A pump and dump on us all in plain sight.

It’s obvious what is happening here, because we’ve seen it before. Musk has to say something wild to build hype in the market, and at least for the moment, it seemingly doesn’t matter how many of his past promises have not come true. buff.ly/Xxs6OtD

-Farm bankruptcies are indeed on the rise...from historic lows, back to still-slightly-lower-than-normal levels. -The US used to grow a lot of crops for export. We can't sell them anymore. We SHOULD cut back on crop acreage. To keep growing the same amount we used to would be absolutely insane.

Let me get this straight: Bari Weiss has radically edited the new Trump interview on 60 Minutes? Let's not forget that Weiss lost her mind over standard editing of a Kamala Harris interview in 2024. But as Juliet shows, this Trump editing goes way beyond standard broadcast practices. Good grief.
