Following the tradition I started in 2023, I kept track of all the community contributions, participation, and collaborations of 2024 (monthly distribution in the plot) Compared to the 531.7 hours I spent during 2023, I spent 650.4 hours in 2024 which is a 22% increase.

I'm sad to go because the Python folks at Meta are stellar, and the work on Free-threaded Python, lazy imports and CinderX has been fantastic. Say what you will about Meta as a company, but the open-source support continues to be excellent.

Welcome @maureira.dev as a speaker! 🦀 Principal R&D Manager at Qt and vice-chair of the Python Software Foundation, he's uniquely placed to talk about Rust's influence on C++ and Python, and how those communities are shaping Rust right back. Can't wait! ✨ 👉 eurorust.eu/talks/rust-s... #rustlang

A great list of people, but remember: "Rather than just voting on name recognition, we encourage you to read each candidate's nomination and supporting statements. PSF Board members shape real decisions about budget, programs, and the direction of the PSF."

I feel very lucky to have an accepted talk in my first @eurorust.eu and the responsibility to open the second day! Looking forward to meet the community, and share my experiences from C++ and Python, so we could empower each other through collaboration and contributions! See you in Barcelona! 🦀🦀🦀

Thank you for the invite! If you haven't check all the episodes Mia already had published :)

Have you ever wondered what astrophysics has in common with the software running in your car, your coffee machine, and NASA's internal tools? Thanks @maureira.dev for chatting about connecting C++ with Python. youtu.be/YNn5fdKI_KQ

We need your feedback on the PSF Strategic Planning! 🐍 🌟

Introducing the PSF Community Partner Program! The PSF is very excited to announce this new in-kind offering that expands how we support Python community events and initiatives around the world, now and alongside future community support programs 💝🐍

pyfound.blogspot.comIntroducing the PSF Community Partner ProgramThe Python Software Foundation (PSF) is excited to announce the introduction of the PSF Community Partner Program. This new program is designed as an “in-kind” way for us to support Python events and initiatives with non-financial assistance through the use of the PSF logo and name, as well as promotional support via sharing qualified posts on PSF official social media accounts. The PSF looks forward to supporting Python community events and initiatives through this new program! The introduction of the PSF Community Partner Program grew out of our desire to find alternative ways to support the community during the pause of our Grants Program (read more about the resulting process below). Even so, we intend to continue offering this in-kind support program after the Grants Program reopens. Our big picture hope is that, over the long term, some community events and initiatives will continue to partner with the PSF while being financially dependent on sponsors and individual donors alone. The PSF is also working on the future of our Grants Program, including when and how we can reopen it in a way that ensures the program’s long-term sustainability while balancing the needs of the Python community. In light of the truly staggering outpouring of support from our community during the 2025 year-end fundraiser, we are now in a stronger position to reopen the Grants Program and are eager to give back in a thoughtful and sustainable way. More updates to come!As with the rollout of any new program, we anticipate small adjustments will need to be made for processes to flow smoothly and to ensure the program serves the Python community well. The PSF welcomes your comments, feedback, and suggestions regarding the new Community Partner Program on the corresponding Discuss thread. We also invite you to join our upcoming PSF Board or Grants Program Office Hour sessions to talk with the PSF Board and Staff synchronously. If you wish to send your feedback privately, please email grants@python.org.

We couldn't believe it, the response from the community was amazing. A few companies showed their support, so we believe a few more could make a difference now into getting us to the next goal. You could donate at least 10 EUR, for the PSF, which is cheaper than some subscriptions out there!

🧵 THANK YOU!! WOW! We hit our initial fundraising goal of $314,159.26 🌠 We're bursting with joy and hope- & we're not done yet! Thanks to you, we’re rolling out two new goals: 400k (stretch) 512k (super stretchy!) Can you help us hit our super stretchy goal? Read on ⬇️ #PythonForEveryone

g0 Python Community g0!

Hearts at the PSF are full today from the responses about the recent grant turn down news we shared. All of your kind words of support & solidarity, as well as your donations & new memberships, mean the world to us. We're so grateful to be in community with each of you 💛🐍💙

Getting funds by removing an important part of your mission statement should be a deal breaker for any non-profit. The PSF is not the first one in this position, and might not be the last. A "diverse international community" is something we should take care of.

TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-... 🧵
