Proud to earn the endorsement of a champion for working families: Secretary @rbreich.bsky.social. Scott Wiener may have billionaires and big corporations backing him, but I stand with working people. San Francisco deserves a representative who answers to the people, not the powerful.

About 1 in 5 voters has asked AI chatbots about politics or elections. And besides the chance of getting hallucinated facts, there’s also a chance the answers may have been shaped by governments around the world. theconversation.com/how-governme...

theconversation.comHow governments worldwide are shaping what AI can say about politicsSome governments use legitimate AI concerns as a pretext to control political discussion, particularly chatbot responses about those in power.

Why do so many centrist campaign mailers insist that San Francisco, or aspects of our city, are broken? What if we insisted on not being broken? What if the very last thing that we need is another firm-handed ostensible rescuer claiming to be He Alone Who Can Fix It?

In fact my basic sense from this whole weeks-long slush of techbro IE mailers trying to drag down Connie Chan's candidacy for Congress is this: They're offended by her saying No to things they want. and They're extra offended because she doesn't always smile when she says No to them.

Martha Bridegam@mbridegam.bsky.social

Another expensive mailer today from an independent expenditure committee with big tech donors, again ranting against SF Sup. Connie Chan, candidate for Congress. As usual, there's a photo of her face with her mouth open. What do they want us to think is wrong with Connie Chan's mouth being open?

They wouldn't impose the same examinations on boys. That tells us everything about who these ghouls are behind the proposal and what kind of society they want.

Doctors and nurses are voicing their objections. I-638 would require EVERY girl who wants to participate in sports to go through biological sex verification. That means expensive, invasive, and utterly gross examinations. Protect our kids and let them play. Vote NO on I-638

Also note the anti-poor side of Scott Wiener on display in this article. We haven't seen that side of him much lately because he's trying to run to the left. But it's there. Has never been clear if he sees homeless San Franciscans as his constituents, or only as inconveniences to his constituents.

Jeffrey Phillips@11thjeff.bsky.social

Took @bart.gov today and somebody snuck in after me, coming out going the wrong direction (oh excuse me, sorry!) It's not my job to fight these people on the spot. Just another reminder that Scott Wiener doesn't have answers. He has technology contracts to award. Vote @conniechansf.bsky.social

I would argue that Ballard has been far more blighted by thousands of ugly giant concrete blocks everywhere than it has by RVs.

Here it is again, this assumption that our country and most of the public are a testbed where techbros are free to run experiments.

We must not allow the night sky to be despoiled by this awful company. We need to start taking light pollution more seriously and protect our dark skies.

Won't link to the awful video game that pits players against "zombies" in the Tenderloin. (Look on KRON if you must.) Fed up with techbros treating most of us in SF as Non-Player Characters (NPCs) as if they were the only heroes in our city's story. We have agency. We vote. No on A, D, E and F.

Interesting if real. Like snake-handling as an expression and test of faith in divine protection. And so very old-school Calvinist. More or less Jonathan Edwards' Basilisk.

"So many AI researchers have started smoking as a way of signaling to other researchers how much they believe in AI," Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar said. https://bit.ly/4rXlHlU

This is also what Proposition D would do to us in San Francisco. The heavily funded promotion campaign for this anti-democratic measure on our local SF Nov. 3, 2026 ballot rests on trying to persuade voters that it would benevolently save us the inconvenience of too many choices on future ballots.

South Dakota was the first state to create a system of direct democracy in 1898; the idea was to balance against corporate interests. This fall, voters will decide whether to raise the bar for approving constitutional amendments.

San Diego is not expendable. Our lives are not bargaining chips. The President’s words were reckless, dangerous, and a betrayal of the people he swore to protect. I love this city, and I will never stay quiet when someone treats our families, neighbors, and communities like they are disposable.

These layoffs at McClatchy newsrooms are devastating: 30 at the Miami Herald, 12 at the Lexington-Herald Leader, 7 at the KC Star. And who knows how many more. Across this country, the powerful are getting exactly what they want — fewer watchdogs and less accountability.

🚨Meta got $3.9 BILLION in federal tax breaks last year to build AI data centers. Scott Wiener opposes a national moratorium on data centers and California’s billionaire tax. I support both because working families can’t afford to keep subsidizing billionaires and corporations.

Also: Where's our Bd of Supervisors on Flock? Why was this only a self-regulating edict from the Mayor after pressure from the Human Rights Commn.? And with a strong-mayor system in SF already, why would anyone vote for Props. D, E, F, or A to shift more power to the Mayor from the Supes & voters?

Let this sink in. Cornell University refused to refund Jane Doe's tuition the semester she was raped. Without this money, she could not transfer to another school. Essentially, she was forced to stay on campus where she saw those seven rapists frequently. Eventually she dropped out of college.

Scott Wiener is opposing the Prop. 40 billionaire tax as quietly as he can, avoiding saying so directly in his statement to @missionlocal.org . He probably has a conscience but he's willing to cut it to fit his techbro supporters. Connie Chan does support Prop. 40. missionlocal.org/2026/09/scot...
