A simple explanation of the forthcoming US mid-term elections. Probably mainly of interest to non-Americans, but possibly also helpful to some Americans. As ever, it's important to register and then to use your vote. www.usvotefoundation.org/do-midterm-e...

usvotefoundation.orgHow Midterm Elections Affect the President | U.S. Vote FoundationYes, Midterm Elections definitely affect the president. And it's important to understand exactly how they do. Hint: No president is without a congress

Love these intricately sculpted column captials on Salmon, Son and Gillepsie's 1899 Glasgow Style British Linen Bank on Govan Road in Glasgow. Created by Francis Derwent Wood, the capitals feature a variety of activities, such as beekeeping, navigation and fishing. #glasgow #architecture #govan

Great view of York Minster over the roofs of High Petergate. It's tempting to say the view has changed little since 1640, when the bldg housing the current pub was built, but most of the foreground bldgs were reconstructed in 1905. The half-timbered bldg was a tenement & may have looked similar.

Trump is accusing oil refiners of gouging Americans and demanding a DOJ investigation after his Iran war helped send gas above $4 a gallon through Augustโ€”the most expensive August at the pump on record. When your policy sets the kitchen on fire, apparently the smoke alarm is the suspect.

Popular Scots comic character Oor Wullie dressed to commemorate renowned Royal British Legion poppy appeal collector Tom Gilzean. Multiple versions of the statue formed a trail around the city of Edinburgh. This one in Princes Street. Nelson Monument, Balmoral Hotel & Scott Monument, L-R behind.

The Balmoral Hotel, 1 Princes Street, Edinburgh. Built in 1902 by the North British Railway Company adjacent to Waverley railway station, the hotel was originally known as the North British Hotel. The clock is kept 3 mins fast to help rail travellers catch their trains.

Today the Islamic Republic of Iran essentially declared that Donald Trump is too mentally deranged and pathologically deceitful to negotiate with... so they won't. And you know what? They're right. That's a normal, rational, adult position. So why don't we see it inside the US?

I know I'm inclined towards Jacobin thoughts on such matters - but attempting to present the venal, self-interested & inherently ridiculous grabbing of dangled ermine - after you failed at a democratic route to power - as proof to your dedicated devotion to public service, is repulsive. Pure odium.

Slightly worrying that the only live TV coverage of ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฉ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ I could find in the UK was on the Al Jazeera channel. DJT still as paranoid as a Spice addict, still as sore a loser as a 3 year-old, and still as dangerous as a fire-cracker in a dynamite store.

Trump didnโ€™t just pardon his followers who stormed the U.S. Capitol. Heโ€™s now set them up for payments through a slush fund he created to reward his alliesโ€”out of your tax dollars. You could not make this up.

For Trump and his friends: - A $1.8 billion slush fund, paid for by you. - A $1 billion ballroom, paid for by you. For you and other American taxpayers: - Millions kicked off health care. - Highest gas prices in 5 years. - Soaring costs for groceries and other necessities.

He f*cked-up the take-off, did so many U-turns the passengers got airsick, then changed destinations. It's time to chuck him out with a back-pack.
