I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

This is fucking horrifying.

My boss and the other 2 clinic nurses started squawking at me like caged birds, saying that it was a legitimate concern (it absolutely was not), and that I should be more worried about it (not at all). I told them that they need to check their racism at the door, and google is their friend.

I didn’t end up getting to go up there that year, mostly because I ruptured my right plantar fascia, broke 2 bones in my left foot, had tons of endometriosis lesions & adhesions, a golf ball sized endometrioma, & 5 massive fibroid tumors removed, and tore my rectus abdominis all in a 1.5 month span!

I wonder if motherfucking ass eyes here knows what Arabic numerals are, how they came about, and who uses them.

I looked at my boss + her colonizer chorus, and said (loud enough to be heard over the rest of the room)…and I popped off w/the most polite snark I think I’ve ever come up with on the fly. The MAs stopped dead & stared at me, shocked. My boss & the other 2 nurses looked like I hit them when I said…

ā€œYou know, if you’re *THAT* worried about them not speaking English on the rez, I guess that means it’s about time for you colonizers to start working on your Anishinaabemowin! Just remember that you don’t use your finger to point at things-unless you want a face five with a fist!ā€

WHAT WOULD WE DO?!ā€ If there had been a record player going at that moment , it would have screeched to a halt. You could’ve heard a pin drop in that room immediately after she said that.

One of the MAs looked at her and flat out said ā€œAre you fucking kidding me?ā€ Another one of the MAs grabbed her bag, said ā€œAbsolutely not, I’m going to HRā€ā€¦and went right to HR. The NP said ā€œAre you joking? You can’t be serious!ā€ā€¦which was the queue for the other 2 nurses to jump in to defend…

She really hated the fact that I came in with almost no experience, virtually no training, and built a clinic from the ground up to see double the patients per day than she was seeing, and figured out how to code it properly in order to help w/the stability of the financial end.

Why does all that matter? Because during the staff meeting in March 2016, while we were discussing these health screenings at Bay Mills Rez, my…*pretty* boss, with her newly minted master’s of science degree, looked at all of us with the most serious look I’d ever seen on her face…

Then there was me. I’m half white, half Native. I’m pale AF, but I don’t want skin cancer. At first, my boss liked me…until the oldest nurse met me, then she spent every chance she had talking shit about me. The better I started to do, the more shit she talked.

She started trying to sabotage me & my clinic by snatching the supplies I ordered for my clinic off the mobile medical unit (which-hats off to our everything man-he tipped me off to her BS, and would have me swing by HQ to pick it all up before Grabby Bitch McStingyAss could steal & hoard it!)

The 2 other clinic nurses and my boss were absolutely racist, xenophobic, and all around just venomous, spiteful, cruel, hateful people who looked down on those who didn’t blend in with them. Then there was the FNP, who was a Black woman (the other nurses didn’t like her; I loved her, though!)

There was the doctor, who was of Chaldean descent (the other nurses didn’t like him, either-but, again, I greatly enjoyed him as a doctor and person), and the man who kinda helped keep everything running, who was Latino (everyone loved him, because he was just the greatest person ever).

…had nurses who were whiter than mayonnaise on Wonder Bread white. Our boss also fit perfectly into that aesthetic. They were every bit the epitome of the stereotypical blonde hair, blue eyed, Abercrombie & Fitch in high school wearing-upgraded to Banana Republic & Nordstrom wearing adults…

At my second nursing job-which was at one of the major medical systems in the Detroit area-I worked in outpatient pediatrics, with the school-based and public health program. We were getting prepared to go do our second summer doing health screenings partnered w/the Boys and Girls Club of Michigan.

While discussing the plan, we discussed how we would be spending 2 days doing screenings at Bay Mills reservation. Now, it’s important here to understand the racial composition of the group I worked with at that time. We had 3 clinics; all 3 medical assistants were Black women. Two of the clinics…

This administration is full of trick-ass bitches who think they can get away with a fuckload of the worst shit…but we can thwart these moldy, rancid dishrags and their vile attacks on the troves of information we’ve amassed over decades-centuries, even.

It’s with a sad and heavy heart that award-winning voice actor Eric Bauza suddenly passed at the age of 46 due to heart disease. Gone too soon but his legacy will live on especially for the #LooneyTunes characters he performed and countless others in animation.

I add that last bit about the EKG because I was diagnosed with heart failure completely out of the blue in the summer of 2023, and the ONLY indication of it was a change in my EKG. If my primary care physician hadn’t done that EKG, I very well could be dead right now. I’m not, and I am working…

I hate to tell you, that while that first "beep beep" in this clip is indeed the classic recording, all the rest are, actually, Eric Bauza's work.

Eric Bauza’s final film performance, as of right now, is Coyote VS ACME. Roadrunner’s testimony is one of his final character performances in the film. He says ā€œBeepā€ around 46 times, that’s all he says. Yet it says everything about his strengths and passion as a voice actor, with just one word.
