Today, in DD/MM/YY form, is 24/10/26, a Pythagorean triple, the last one this century apparently

Up since 5, looking at the sky all bundled up with a poofball hat and coat because it’s cold at night. I still have my frownies on (because you know, vanity) Anyway, I stepped outside to get this sunrise shot right as the neighbor kids lined up for the school bus, I waved, they looked confused.

The Cat Righting Reflex is the official name of the process cats use to automatically correct themselves mid-fall and land on their feet. It develops between 3 - 9 weeks of age, and is responsible for the greatest wikipedia gif of all time.

My advice to a young graduate student who was asking me about what I saw as a future for the sciences in America today... "If you can survive & find people to help you survive the next 2.5yrs, then we might be positioned for a renaissance in science and science funding... But that's all I've got."

Someday when this is all over, our atoms will lose cohesion and drift apart, and that's ok. They'll combine with other atoms to form new gnarled oaks, fainting goats, and haunted cottages that float through the woods, wreathed in moss & gloom.

In this house, we believe: - love is love - science is real - squirrels are little demons - all forests are haunted - fried potatoes are good for me - pants are always optional

Last week, my bank manager and I talked about mutual aid networks and learning to garden. Then, along with my bank statements he handed me a zine he’d written. This is the way, I think.

Today I replaced the LCD screen of my laptop so efficiently that there are two tiny screws mysteriously leftover after putting it back together. Certainly those screws weren’t important.

Sat down with a cup of coffee and thought, - “I’ll just write for the next 15 minutes.” 90 minutes and three thoughtful paragraphs later I wonder if AI was invented to stop this kind of internal time travel so that we forget that the value is not in the minutes saved, but the traveling itself.

It’s inaccurate to say Mario is brave and Luigi is cowardly Luigi is afraid of death, so he runs away from danger. Mario is afraid of living, so he runs towards death. Both brothers are cowards in their own way
