If the Animation Group weren’t Kind Of The Worst, this would be such a fitting capper to this whole story. But I think the technicality of this eligibility is going to run into the same reason they didn’t nominate The LEGO Movie.

Awards season shakeup! The Academy has ruled ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ eligible for the Oscars' animated feature category. Ketchup Entertainment will submit Dave Green’s hybrid comedy for consideration in this year's race. www.cartoonbrew.com/awards/coyot...

I reached a brain-breaking (personal) milestone with @givememyremote.bsky.social on Monday: 25,000 posts. (The site itself has mid-30k re: total posts.) Grateful to everyone who reads/supports GMMR; I hope to be able to bring you (at least) 25,000 more. ♥️

The new season is here, so a reminder of all of the places/ways you can support @givememyremote.bsky.social. Here's hoping we have a very fun year of television ahead of us. ☺️🤓

They gave them all to Clayface. Cowards.

There is no new wide release this weekend. AMC isn't doing presales for any Dolby Cinema screenings. They won't release the showtimes until Wednesday. I'm really curious how they choose to split those screens given the current state of the box office.

The death of Facebook has led to News Feed dominance for anyone who IS regularly posting, which is how I became very invested in someone I briefly overlapped with in university running for city council in Ontario tonight. I never liked or shared anything, but I like to think her win is also MY win.

Clayface keeping the late night screening makes sense. But you have two films—You Can See Everything, Wildwood—that are likely to hold well this weekend and which for opposite reasons would play well on Dolby screens: comfortable seating in the former case, visual spectacle in the latter.

You feel like A24 could wrangle some PLFs for YCSE if they wanted, especially with the buzz and the lack of a blockbuster release, but Wildwood is notably distributed by Fathom, who primarily handles re-releases. Do they have the ability to negotiate for those screens if demand is there?

Okay, actually I lied: there's a 7pm Wild Horse Nine early access screening scheduled for Dolby on Friday at 7 that showed up sometime over the past couple days. But that still leaves two matinees and the late night screening, plus that screening on Saturday and Sunday.

Last night, "SNL UK" did a (not hugely fresh) "Cher Witch Project" sketch set in 1994, in which the filmmakers know they're nearing The Cher Witch's lair cuz they find Grammys scattered in the forest. Cher didn't win her first Grammy until 2000. And that's why I'm never watching "SNL UK" again.

Hard to think of a more extreme case of Dolby Cinema Regret than my local AMC letting Klara and the Sun—which is set to earn less than $1m this weekend—have a matinee over Wildwood (est. $11m) and of course You Can See Everything (est. $19m).

The tension of a #Glee reboot is that the industrial logics of the show—the horizontal integration, the timeliness—are more valuable than ever in our current social media landscape, but the cultural logic of its storytelling is so ill-suited to our moment that the prospect is bone-chilling.

Okay, I have an answer, but I'm curious where everyone is at: who in your mind is the artist who emerged since 2015 who is the most ripe for having songs appear in a revival of #Glee?

Taylor Swift has released SEVEN ALBUMS since #Glee was on the air! Kacey Musgraves had only released one album! Charli XCX had just barely Boomed and Clapped! Troye Sivan was still a Youtuber!

Also, yeah, to Tamara's point "revival" is probably the cleaner word to be using more than reboot right now, but provided we're still primarily focused on high school students we're in legacyquel territory where reboot/revival logics will be competing with each other. #Glee

The one important thing that this big Glee news is showing me is how many people don't know the difference between a reboot and a revival...

Like provided I only engage it from the angle of "Playlist of songs that have released since 2015 that should have a #Glee Cast version," it sounds like the greatest idea in history. The second I start to think about actual storylines, I'm on the floor in the fetal position.

An underreported factor in the show's early buzz might be that the pilot screener leaked on Torrent sites, meaning that regular people got to participate ahead of air (even if "social media" didn't really exist yet).

Aaron Sorkin's infamous Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip debuted 20 years ago this fall. I talked with a group of contemporary comedy writers about why the show didn't work, but also why they're still obsessed with it:

The casting on the current run of Celebrity Name that Tune is maybe the worst in Reality TV history? Nearly every one of these people should have just donated $10,000 to charity themselves and saved us the pain and suffering of their appearance.

I know we think the MCU is a bit washed, but my TikTok algorithm has already given me two Tommy edits—one set to a Taylor Swift song about his scam accomplice and one about his father set to Next to Normal—and #VisionQuest just came out, so there remains something to be activated here.

Today at Episodic Medium, I'm back with weekly reviews of two -- count 'em, two -- shows from Robert and Michelle King, for the price of one. Elsbeth's 4th season kicks off with a fun, frothy installment, and is joined by the intriguing and fast-paced Cupertino: www.episodicmedium.tv/review-elsbe...

episodicmedium.tvReview: Elsbeth, “Crazy in Love” | Season 4, Episode 1 / Cupertino, "Michael & Olivia" | Season 1, Episode 1Sam AND Diane? In *this* economy?!?

My Facebook feed is increasingly algorithmic as my generation stops posting on Facebook, and it’s officially been trained to know there is no genre I love more right now than “Small Business AI FAFO.”

I'd also love to know to what degree Amazon thinks that being the "home of the #Emmys" could help it regain competitiveness in an FYC climate they redefined but can't stay afloat in.

I have now seen four angles of the college kids bullying Kelly Clarkson into playing “Underneath the Tree” on October 3 and I’ve watched every single one of them in full, damnit.

I won't pretend I'm always the best editor of my own work, but sometimes I stop and think "Myles, you really do need to use hyperlinks to explain references to things that happened more than a decade ago that may or may not be known to your readers."

#Digger presumably bombing seems like a particularly cruel fate for the IMAX 70mm locations who've given up nearly sold out #TheOdyssey screenings.

The VMAs’ simultaneous desire to remain tied to music history while also privileging current artists is a fascinating cultural experiment, but it sure created a dire George Michael tribute up until they broke the latter rule for Adam Lambert.

I don’t think we’re talking enough about how the NYT lists were unranked and all it really means is what shows the most people thought they should have on their lists, which is not nothing but isn’t actually evaluating the best show of the 21st century.

I realize that this isn’t illogical—of course people are more likely to watch a movie they haven’t seen over one that was wildly successful at the box office—but it’s still very funny to me.

Is there anything more TV in 2026 than watching a limited series you saw some buzz about but no one’s talking about it anymore and thinking “Wow, I’m so late to the party” and then realizing it only dropped five weeks ago? I was charmed by #MyBrilliantCareer, is what I’m saying.

On the one hand, yes, the clips from this show are 100% an improvement on an audio-only experience. But on the OTHER hand, if this is the case, then why oh WHY are the ad reads at the beginning of the episode read from a script instead of a prompter?!

This is probably closer to what the Peacock "Traitors" gets per episode than you'd think. The big minutes watched total in streaming ratings doesn't *necessarily* mean a giant per-episode audience, especially since the Nielsen streaming numbers include watch time for every episode of a show.

Joe Adalian@tvmojoe.bsky.social

It’s early and these numbers WILL go up with Big Data adjustments, and then up again in multiplatform ratings with Peacock viewing, but, per Nielsen: THE TRAITORS: NEW BLOOD got murdered in its NBC debut. First hour did 2.3M; second was 1.7M. 2M for the night. Demo better—0.30—but not great.

#ThePitt S2—while very good—struggled to escape the feeling that it only cared about Robbie's character, so it's sort of fitting that its only major #Emmys wins were for series and Noah Wyle, y'know?
