I keep seeing things about the iPhone Duo and hearing that the buttons move to the right side of the screen so they're easier to reach. Well, I'm left-handed, so it's probably the opposite for left-handed people, then? They made it a lot worse. 😄 Does anyone know anything about that?

Dash0 welcomes Polar Signals to the team. They built the leading continuous profiler for cloud native workloads, with GPU and CUDA support, and created Parca, the open source profiling project behind it. Profiling will live natively in Dash0, next to traces, metrics and logs. eu1.hubs.ly/H0xG-d70

Today is a big day! The last 5+ years at @polarsignals.com have been incredible! I couldn't be more excited to be part of what's next for @dash0.com observability!

🚀 Polar Signals is Joining Dash0! 🧊 I could not be more excited to bring continuous profiling to even more companies as well as take our database and make it the best foundation it can be for all of Observability! www.polarsignals.com/blog/posts/2...

Little experiment: Make percent for pyrra.dev responsive to show as many decimal places as possible. Trailing .000 are trimmed and decimal places are only rounded if not enough space is left.

Super fun to see all sorts of things with. Like, you can see a @prometheus.io rule evaluation followed by GC and other interesting things.

🔥Flame charts are now GA for all CPU profiles on Polar Signals Cloud. X-axis = wall-clock time, so periodic GC, phase shifts, and lock contention show up as patterns instead of getting averaged out. www.polarsignals.com/blog/posts/2...

Working at Polar Signals, I always come at things with a performance mindset. Running evals on our MCP turned out to be exactly that: performance engineering but for the model's context. Measuring the profiling skill's efficiency and effectiveness has been the real fun these past weeks. 😎

Less context, better answers. 🔥 The new @polarsignals.com MCP makes smaller, more effective tool calls and iterates on what's actually worth querying. www.polarsignals.com/blog/posts/2...

We've been working on a major schema migration at @polarsignals.com that has unlocked some pretty wild improvements. Apart from a 50% (!!) reduction in storage size thanks to logical compression in vortex.dev, there has been a dramatic improvement in query performance.

Your Node.js profiles on @polarsignals.com just got personal!

Polar Signals@polarsignals.com

Tired of Node.js flamecharts full of `a`, `m`, and `_0x3f2`? We just shipped source maps support for Node.js profiles in Polar Signals Cloud. Just add a plugin to your build pipeline, and your profiles show the real code. Know more: www.polarsignals.com/blog/posts/2...

This is for a hobby thing, so I’m not super annoyed and I’ll simply continue tomorrow. Makes you think about the bigger picture nonetheless.

99.5% is slightly better than 3.5 hours in 28 days if we’re talking uptime. Really not great.

A historic step for profiling within the OpenTelemetry project!

Polar Signals@polarsignals.com

🥳 OpenTelemetry Profiling goes Alpha! Check out how to use it with open source Parca and Polar Signals Cloud! 🧊 www.polarsignals.com/blog/posts/2...

We caught up with Felix earlier this week at KubeCon EU, and TODAY he's presenting on the OpenTelemetry profiling signal reaching alpha, together with Florian. 📍 15:15, Hall 8, Room F Profiling as a first-class signal in OTel is huge. Don't miss it!

For the next hour and a half (until 16:30) I'll be at the Prometheus project booth! Come around to talk Prometheus, SLOs and more or just say hi. See you!

For local development you don't need a dedicated MCP server for CockroachDB, Prometheus, or Jaeger. Just exec into the container and run commands directly. SQL in cockroach, wget the Prometheus HTTP API, same for Jaeger. 😏

All of this runs through the colima MCP server in Claude Code. claude mcp add-json colima '{"command":"npx","args":["-y","kubernetes-mcp-server@latest"],"env":{"KUBECONFIG":"'${HOME}'/.kube/config"}}' I've allow listed `mcp__colima__*`. Local VM, fully isolated. 🤌

curl isn't available, but wget is. kubectl exec -n observability prometheus-k8s-0 -- wget -qO 'localhost:9090/api/v1/query?query=up{job="api"}'

Unfortunately, I won't be joining #FOSDEM. I got sick late last week and decided not to contribute to FOSDEM flu and canceled my trip. Have fun everyone! Next conference!

Let's scale Pyrra even further!

We cut cross-zone traffic for SLO monitoring by 90% using Prometheus subquery optimization. The trick: pre-aggregate data locally instead of shuffling 55M raw samples to Thanos queriers. Coming soon to Pyrra! 🚀 www.polarsignals.com/blog/posts/2...

Next.js 16 + turbopack took our frontend builds from 5-7m down to just over 2m. This means faster speed of iteration in development and faster CI. Performance is UX. Performance is DX. Performance is a feature.
