This is vital. Writing helps us think. So many students are saying they turn to LLMs because they don’t know what to say, and need to hear that not knowing is normal as one starts to write.

Do you need to know what you think before you start writing? Not necessarily, argues historian Lynn Hunt. In a 2010 #AHAPerspectives essay, Hunt explores how the act of writing itself generates new ideas and why getting words on the page is essential to the thinking process.

One of the funniest things this fall was when I gave a friend a copy of my book and he later told me he gave it to his girlfriend and she can’t wait to read it 🤣🤣🫡

I was at Kell’s downtown watching the Timbers play at LA Galaxy when Diego Chara made his Timbers debut as a second half substitute. That was fifteen-and-a-half years ago, almost to the day. Chad Barrett’s family was there watching, all wearing his shirts 🤣 I was 28 years old.

Here’s the train ticket for my return trip from 30th St Station to DC Union Station when I was 8. My grandparents put me on the train and my parents met me in DC. I’d done the reverse a few days before. Imagine putting an 8yo kid on the train by themselves and waving bye today 🤣🤣

my favorite one my cousins used to joke about is ‘passing mustard’ 🤣

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

tbf he didn’t say where they’d be in the afterlife

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

I agree with almost all criticism of Tom Dundon. But I don’t agree about this. There are only 30 of these properties and it was available. A very rare thing. He’s fucking clown and a piece of shit, and I hope he dumps the asset eventually. But that doesn’t mean I can’t understand why he did it.

There is no world in which I will vote in favor of removing the first-class clause, and it's not something the Mayor can do unilaterally. This man has secured a path to roughly a billion in public subsidy for a stadium deal (despite my opposition) and still cries poor. We deserve better than this.

Negotiations between Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon and Portland officials have stalled over a $1 billion settlement demand tied to the team's first-class arena maintenance clause, with Dundon pushing for a 10-year buyout option rather than the required 20-year lease commitment. https://mrf.lu/2bWJc
