I‘m of course deeply aware of the insidious ideological and economic function of consumer culture. But also, I believe in my bones that an updated wardrobe could fix me.

"Reading books is active resistance" is something I tell to my students every day.

@michaelburns.bsky.social I got my Always Historicize hat within a couple days or so of my Now Time dot Biz order and you both use the same brand of blank hat. Funny coincidence considering how you both have theory-focused merch! (Highly recommend Now Time if you’ve never checked them out BTW.)

May or may not make a video about this, but one of the few areas we have any real leverage to resist and undermine Silicon Valley dominant is in aesthetics and culture more broadly. Not only should they be excluded, but culture should continually mock them. Don’t let them be cool.

Right-wing billionaires now own the Washington Post, the LA Times, CNN, CBS News, virtually every local TV station, virtually every news radio station, most local newspapers, X, Facebook, Threads, and TikTok. (Did I miss any?) They own almost the entire information environment.

after seeing Geese last night I realize the real "take" from the "psyop" discourse is simply that if you actually put good art in front of people - they'll like it! it's just that usually bullshit art is shoved down our throats.

and i would love to connect with anyone who might want to review/write about the project so do get in touch if that's you.
