I agree with this approach to writing novels, especially during the first draft when I just bury my face in it, but can we pause to consider the semantic slippage, nay, the versatility of “rawdog/rawdogging”? How’s it sound simultaneously cuter than “barebacking” and nastier than “breeding”?

Rawdog your book. No outlines, no writing schedule, no clue what’s next

Leaving work, feeling good, a little excited about the new tattoo I’m getting on Friday and Fall Break next week, when someone I don’t know from Adam says, “You look exhausted,” with a beautiful smile on her beaming face.

Yesterday, we had to take our boy Oscar to the vet for a blocked urethra. When I visited him today for an update, he was still on the good drugs, but he was keeping his head in the back corner of the ICU kennel. I was able to coax him out for scritches, him wobbling like a buzzed goblin.

Maybe I’m just having a cranky day, but I just can’t with weaponized incompetence. Nothing has changed, and yet now some folks don’t know how to do something they’ve already been doing? And it’s my fault somehow?

As much as I have quieted my OCD, whenever I see someone dump their phone and keys on the gym floor, I think of those progress pics guys take while holding their phones between their teeth. Then I start wondering how long it will be until they come down with trench mouth or a staph infection.

It’s not that uncommon to see a used condom in the parking lot of the greenway trailhead where I usually begin my outdoor runs, and good for them for taking precautions, but today’s the first time I’ve seen an empty bottle of poppers.

"you're so bad at answering messages" i am actually EXCELLENT at answering messages i simply receive more messages across more platforms than the berry-picking psyche evolution furnished me can hold without all reality cracking open and hearing god's angry hum from Beneath

Lindsey Graham on Gaza: "Just flatten it, like we flattened Tokyo and Berlin." Lindsey Graham on the Iran War: "We are going to make tons of money." Lindsey Graham on Renée Nicole Good: "She deserved what happened. She provoked ICE." As grandma used to say: GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH.

Breaking News: It’s Fucking Gross Outside. Local man regrets walking without air conditioning, cannot understand the guy who’s wearing a long-sleeved black hoodie. Did he move here from Mercury? Wait, does Mercury feel nice right now?

It was 80° that felt like 79°, with 72% humidity, during a Central Park run this morning. Luckily, there was a cool drizzle on the back half and then some. I was already drenched by then. Afterwards, man, wring me out.

Saw Backrooms this morning. There were four other people in the theater. Spoilers below. . . . . . . Overall, the atmosphere was tense and creepy, and the set designs were well done. However, the plot felt disjointed, the pacing was slow for the most part, but then the third act was quite rushed.

Both Reinsve (Mary) and Ejiofor (Clark) deliver solid performances, especially the former, and I would have liked to see more of Maxwell and Bennett’s characters and of Clark’s explorations and mapping of the Backrooms. Definitely some Lynchian vibes, especially near the end, which were unsettling

and left me wishing there had been more of those throughout the build-up to the third act. Likewise, I think Phil and Async storyline are unfortunately given short-shrift. Thematically, I liked how the movie brings in both trauma and memory, and there’s a good story to be had with those.

According to the fitting room mirrors in three different stores, I have apparently never, ever, ever worked out, not even this morning’s eight-mile run. Why are mirrors I’m used to kinder to my body dysmorphia?

Traveling to NYC for the first time in nearly 20 years (god, has it been longer than that?). Looking for recommendations beyond the typical tourist traps for two book- and theatre-loving gay guys.

The rains in Nashville have stopped for now, but the humidity is holding strong. Managed to run five miles in this soup. As is usually the case, slight breezes began blowing only after I stopped running. Let’s just say, I’m glad I packed a towel.
