I'd like a game that's kinda like Mother, as in Dragon Quest but in a modern-ish setting and with cutesy 2D graphics, but with a female protagonist, and that doesn't take place in either America or Shibuya. (Why is it ALWAYS Shibuya?!?!) I'd make it myself if I had an idea...

My game of the year is Beatmania IIDX 33 Sparkle Shower. I know Zinrai just came out, but like... Sparkle Shower had *Absolutely Imaculate* vibes~❤️ Never before have I played a game that made THIS Much of an impact on me that I can do so little to share with the world...

Beatmania IIDX is a truly special game... It's NOT for everyone, but it's also the kind of game that you HAVE to experience for yourself to REALLY Get... And for the right kind of person, it's one of the very best games you can possibly get into, the kind of game you can legit play forever...

Let the kids be kids, it's not their fault they can't read... It's Bush's fault. Also, I wouldn't be too quick to blame Millennial parents either, they're EXHAUSTED from working 3 jobs and still barely being able to afford the bare essentials.

Michirin
@michirin.bsky.social

And when Millennial parents ARE able to be with their kids, whether they know how to raise a kid or not, they're just trying NOT To Be F@#%ING ABUSERS To Their Children, LIKE THEIR PARENTS WERE TO THEM!!

Y'know, I would be lying if I said my problem with Nintendo didn't have something to do with their business practises outside of Japan but... That's only part of the story... The REAL problem I have is that I'm not as excited about what they're making like I was a decade ago...

Michirin
@michirin.bsky.social

Maybe I just grew up, I mean, I'm in my 30s now, and my tastes HAVE changed since my youth, but like... I still yearn for the wholesome magic that Nintendo systems and games had during the Wii and 3DS eras, and I'm ALL Over projects like Cocoon and iiSU that aim to recapture that magic.

Michirin
@michirin.bsky.social

That said, if I lived in Japan (and had a job), I'd have NO Qualms with supporting Nintendo, cuz NoJ has been legit a force for good within the country. That said, I'd probably just give my money to Konami, cuz they're the ones making the games I ACTUALLY Want to play, and aren't that bad otherwise.

Today's decision by Labour to approve new drilling in the North Sea is climate vandalism. It's a betrayal of all of our futures, and Labour has abandoned all credibility in the fight against climate change. This is a victory for Shell over the people. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cw...

Watching a Guitar Hero video feels *WILD* coming from, well, most other rhythm games... Where's All The Note Judgements?!?! Where's the Perfects, Greats, Goods, Bads and so on?! They're Not There!! WTH?!?!

Michirin
@michirin.bsky.social

YouTube is full of videos like: "I made this cool thing" And I hate that my immediate first reaction these days is always: "Did you though? Did you ACTUALLY Make This Cool Thing?!?! Or did you get an LLM to do all the work for you?!?!"

Konami's got their hands on so many pies (is that the right term?) that like... The venn diagram of Bemani fans, MGS/SH fans, Classic Konami fans, Yu-Gi-Oh fans and PES/E-Football fans are like, 5 different circles that barely intersect...

Michirin
@michirin.bsky.social

And then there's Hudson Soft fans mixed in there somewhere, longing for a bygone era... That's me, I'm the Hudson Soft fan... Well, in the super tiny intersection of Hudson, Bemani and Classic Konami (8/16-bit era) fans...

New here? I've spent the past two years making The Book of Rynn, a brand-new RPG for the original NES, inspired by Dragon Warrior I-IV! The first adventure is complete and playable, with three more planned! Free demo at sebotron.itch.io/the-book-of-... #retrogames #nes #gamedev #jrpg #indiegames

Earlier today, Dragon Quest's creator Yuji Horii vibe coded an adventure game in just 30 minutes. I've spent the last few months creating a Dragon Quest romhack. Here's why AI can't create art, and AI fueled projects are destroying the creative process:

Not mine, no... I mean, yes, Lillie WAS Peak, but my favourite anime are NOT Shounen lol The anime I watch writes women and girls as actual people, not tokens and trophies...

Mankind knew that they cannot change society. So instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed immigrants and trans people. Heaven or Hell Duel 1 LET'S ROCK!

Just finished watching Young Ladies don't play Fighting Games. It was Really Fun! It felt like it was made *Specifically For Me* (aside from all the random blood) and I was Lapping It All Up!! I want more of it now... May have to seek out the manga...

Michirin
@michirin.bsky.social

It also left me wanting an anime about cute girls playing rhythm games... Wouldn't THAT Be Cool?! That said, if this show Really Was made Specifically For Me, the girls would be at least a decade older, they'd be playing Asuka 120% or Arcana Heart, and the OP would be electronic instead of rock...

I’m not technically a cis man, but I am thought of as one to most people outside of queer communities, and I do this whenever I can. It really does work. If you get pushback, just ask the person to explain why they think the joke is funny. It works. It’s easy. Please do this.
