THE DEVILS is a phenomenal movie and the opportunity to see it in a theater for the first time, in Ken Russell’s original vision, is an event that I do not recommend missing.

I am so honored to be repping the incredible @milesperhoward.bsky.social I've been an enormous fan of his writing and trailblazing for years and can't tell you how excited I am for you all to read this book!

So I've got some big news. All my ramblings and ravings about urban hiking and how it can change our lives are going to become a book! I'm in Pittsburgh now, doing field research for Chapter 2, and I can't wait to share this with you all in 2028. (Also, I might be visiting your city soon.)

For @bostonglobe.com, I wrote about something you often see in rural communities: People waving at each other while passing on the road. I decided to try doing this in the Boston metro area for a few weeks. And I think more of us should give it a try. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/09/30/o...

Boston: We're tackling three "long time coming" Walking City Trails projects. We're installing signs on all three trails, starting a trailside business coalition, and expanding our earn-a-patch program to all the trails. And to make it happen, we need your help 👇 www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-ac...

Currently in the field doing some reporting for a book about urban hiking that is officially happening after years of development. I’ll share an official announcement about the publishing deal soon but I’m so excited to share this with you all in the near future. Hike every city!

We're also getting that movie where Austin Abrams gets swallowed by a whale in October, and then November begins with Godzilla Minus Zero. Monster movie heaven!

Fall 2026 has got to be the best season in decades for quality monster horror movies. First we got HOPE. Now we have RESIDENT EVIL. And the early reviews for that giant snake movie coming in early October are looking strong. Good things are still possible!

City of Boston question: I stepped in wet asphalt while walking today and probably ruined my shoes. There were no warning signs posted by the asphalt patches/ramps and this was a municipal construction project. Is it worth paying $15 to file a claim for the shoes, or would I be throwing money away?

An interesting argument: "We’ve built a chain where the only person carrying any liability is the one who probably had the least amount of information going into that activity."

on the one hand, fuck them on the other hand the supreme court explicitly signing off on Ballroom is actually a pretty good weapon to use when it's time to argue for court expansion, and does far less damage than most of their rulings

PSA for anyone flying from Boston to the UK via Icelandair: Last night, I found out the hard way that Iceland's rule for three months of passport validity doesn't just apply for people visiting Iceland. It also applies to people with non-Schengen flight connections at Reykjavik! Plan accordingly.

People of Glasgow: Next week I'm flying from Boston to your neck of the woods and reporting a story about the recent twinning of our cities. If you'd like to meet up for a walk, pint, and/or a conversation along the Forth and Clyde canal paths, let me know! I'll be walking there.

The intersection where this happened is one of the places where safe street initiatives have been frozen by the Wu adminstration. And it seems like one of the most profound ways of honoring Louisa Gag's life and her work would be pressuring the Wu admin. to resume these much-needed street projects.

Miles Howard reposted

No - her legacy needs to become action. From you. Now. Of course she will be remembered for all that she did. What about you?

Louisa led programs and improvements that made our streets safer, our communities stronger, and our residents’ daily lives better. Her legacy will endure in the work she advanced across the City, and in the commitment of her colleagues, friends, and fellow advocates to carry it forward.
