Just dropped a bit of a bombshell on Newsnight, Faisal slightly wide eyed, understandable. This is a new approach to north sea oil and gas....:)

What changes Reform voters minds in Clacton? When they discover what is in Reform's proposed Great Repeal Bill. Zero-hours contracts: Over three-quarters of voters in Clacton (and 72% nationally) support banning exploitative zero-hours contracts.

Fire and rehire: 81% of voters in Clacton and huge majorities across the UK support ending fire-and-rehire practices. Sick pay: 66% support introducing statutory sick pay from day one of an illness. Living wage: 86% back turning the minimum wage into a real living wage. Source`: TUC survey.

A TUC survey showed 70-80% of Reform voters changed their minds about supporting the party when they were told about their policies on employment rights and scrapping the Equality Act. Seems working class voters aren't keen on zero hour contracts; dismissal from day one, not having sick pay etc.

Replying to @theodora.bsky.social

I'm not a believer in the Great Man Theory of History, but there's a certain credibility to the Fucking Idiot Theory of History. And a Fucking Idiot may well just have got us all into World War Three. 6/6

Donald Trump at an election campaign stop in Pennsylvania in August 2024: “Energy costs, all of it, air conditioning, heating, all of it, including gasoline, will drop by more than 50% within the first 12 months”

Wow! This is some top-notch investigative journalism. The report claims the 3 million Epstein files released are only 2% of the total. The massive scale of what’s still missing is hard to comprehend.

With X's launch of a new anti woke Grok; MAGA fighting itself over fake news reports about the Epstein list, and Musk throwing petrol on the whole bonfire of insanities and then launching a new party, and AI reinventing history on FB ... if EU/UK talked about legislation might get a lot of support.

This is spot on. I was in court for the settlement negotiations. It was explicit in comments from both sets of lawyers that the the suppression of evidence due to be heard in the trial was an absolutely essential requirement for the Murdoch side.

It was Rupert Murdoch’s company wanting to avoid a public trial—and not the costs risk on the claimants, including Prince Harry—that brought this case to its end, writes @davidallengreen.bsky.social. www.prospectmagazine...
