We filed the Save Public Schools resolution as a Nine-Twelfths agenda item for the Wednesday Council meeting. The resolution calls for: 1. Gov. Kotek to release emergency 🎓 funds 2. City lobbies for rev reform and ed spending in next session as top priority 3. PPS to pause proposed plans

Over the last several days I've heard directly from parents who are scared and outraged about the PPS proposals for closure of their schools. They are calling for action from their elected officials at all levels. Today I have filed an emergency that responds to the urgency of these calls. 🧵

We need to pause this process – not one school should close before we fully explore our options to fully fund education. My office will do everything in its power to help. We need to retain and attract young families to Portland, and we can start by saving our schools. (1/2)

#Portland Strike Alert 📢 After 10 mos of bargaining on wages, hours, and layoff protections, 93% of CPPW members (the independent union of 800 City professional workers) have voted YES to authorize leadership to call a strike Mayor Wilson is treating Portland City workers like cogs in a machine,

Having Jo Ann's endorsement means so much to me. She is literally the reason we have PCEF and Portland Street Response — two of the most important policies passed in Portland in decades. Her contributions to our city cannot be measured. Please wish Jo Ann a happy birthday, too! (1/2)

on a long enough timeline everyone accepts the warm embrace of the office of councilor green

willamette week slowly moves into the embrace of councilor mitch green, moving him up two places from sixth to fourth and above eli arnold who has been demoted to last place

two observations: 1. there are clearly two voting blocs. 2. the progressives compromise more often than the mods / conservatives, as evidenced by the darker gradient shading in the upper right corner quadrant

Okay this is an interesting view: how often councilors voted for items proposed by other councilors. On this measure I think Dan Ryan is kind of uniquely a hard-line factional voter.

Update: The Pearl District Neighborhood Association and the NW Examiner have canceled their District 4 candidate forum after the city attorney's office clarified legal requirements for neighborhood associations and nonprofits. The @portlandmercury.com reported the issues yesterday -- context here:

Mitch is going to need extra support for this one because this forum will not include any of the other progressive candidates like myself. They chose to only include the incumbents and Eli Arnold on purpose so it won’t be a very friendly crowd. Turn up and turn out!!

We are entering the phase of the campaign where there will be a ton of forums and debates. We will list them all on my website. First up: D4 Forum hosted by NW Examiner on 10/5 at Portland Center Stage @5pm Don’t miss it! www.mitch4portland.com/calendar

Mr. Hoan is not qualified to assert that a tax on gross net profits will be passed on to consumers. Pricing decisions made by large corporations are based upon a markup on direct costs and overhead costs (spread broadly), prior to net income taxes.

Mitch’s endorsements speak for themselves, but it’s so impactful to tell the person whose door you’ve just knocked on that you’re a volunteer, and you’re *choosing* to use your free time to make sure people know about Mitch’s policies and why you want him re-elected to City Council.

The Metro Chamber is targeting me because my office has successfully defended their attacks related to Preschool for All, Portland Street Response, Moda, Zenith, Harborton, Clean and Safe, and more. They’re scared, I’m not, and the people are onto them. Their dirty tricks won’t work anymore.

The Portland Metro Chamber is the source of many of the city’s problems. If they don’t oppose you, you aren’t going hard enough
