Just finished my second audio book of the year (started last year) on Audible (tax Bezos). For anyone looking for light at the end of the tunnel in the next four years, read this book by Neil Howe.

This is my buddy Jay’s event and it’s amazing that it has grown to the point that the Governor’s team is joining the neighborhood cat walk!

Tina Kotek@tinakotek.bsky.social

Had a great time serving as honorary grand marshal for the Cats of Sunnyside walking tour! Nothing beats good neighbors and the community spirit that makes Oregon so special.

A handful of registered Democrats vying for seats in local government are backed by donors who have also supported Republicans and Portland conservatives. That’s according to state data collected and presented in a new web project called Who’s Buying PDX.

Nothing about the way Dundon behaves surprises me at all. But the way our D4 reps like Clark and Zimmerman behave on this issue is actually embarrassing.

The Oregonian@oregonian.com

Negotiations between Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon and Portland officials have stalled over a $1 billion settlement demand tied to the team's first-class arena maintenance clause, with Dundon pushing for a 10-year buyout option rather than the required 20-year lease commitment. https://mrf.lu/2bWJc

He did this last time and it didn’t work so he should figure out a new strategy. It’s possible to do garbage pickup w/o displacing ppl, discarding meds, IDs, making it harder for them to get back on their feet. It’s not possible to perpetuate failed systems & wonder why the problem isn’t improving

tuba pudding jr@tubapuddingjunior.bsky.social

rob nosse just sent out his endorsements and it includes an unhinged thing about how morillo won't support sweeps and that's somehow supposed to be bad

A friendly reminder: We're running a Progressive Slate in '28. Up and down the ballot. When the dust settles on this election it's time to start meeting, strategizing, and recruiting to primary every establishment legislative Dem and business-backed local candidate.

LETS GOOOOOOOOOO!

This is what 10,477 mailers looks like. These will go out tomorrow to more than 23,000 District 4 voters. Thank you to everyone that has supported us so far. We were not sure if we’d have the budget to send out mailers, but thanks to y’all we were able to. I truly cannot thank you enough.

This weekend, a website popped up outlining how a host of GOP and "Portland conservative" donors are propping up candidates using progressive language to oust progressives. Today, @portlandmercury.com spoke with the creator, candidates, and backers to hear why state data analysis reveals an overlap.

The mayor caved to Trump, removed DEI language, and this connected developer is dropping the r slur in public meetings and calling me a burrito in racist group chats but according to Willy Week the Big decorum issue is that I’m too mean talking about racism and sexism and other isms in this space

Councilor Mitch Green@councilorgreen.bsky.social

Today in the Housing and Permitting Committee Chair Avalos had to interrupt and call to order Brian Owendoff who violated our rules of decorum and engaged in ableist slurs at the dais. Mr. Owendoff’s comments were deplorable and the chair was right to gavel him out.

🚨 BREAKING: This ad, when tested, moves swing voters 8 points away from Trump & Republicans. THAT’S HUGE MOVEMENT. Please share! Turns out Americans don’t like creepy Republicans obsessing about their junk. 🤷‍♂️ #MAGAInYourBathroom

Almost half of Eli’s donations over $100 come from Republicans or Portland conservatives. Probably not someone we should be trusting to be a solid progressive vote in D4. whosbuyingpdx.com/profiles/arn...

Jamey Evenstar@jameyevenstar.bsky.social

Wait, so Eli is considered a climate champion now? He didn’t even fully sign on to the 350PDX Climate Justice Platform. Since when was he stumping for clean air?

A vote for Kotek is a vote to ensure that any progressive initiative you care for, virtually anything championed by your favorite local councilors or legislators, isn’t just obliquely vetoed, obstructed or administered out of viability for the next four years.

pnwpolicyangel aka Angelita 👼@pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social

I’m very critical of Tina Kotek and people need to vote for her anyway. There’s no ranked choice in this race. The governor has the power to call in the national guard, or affect voting. That alone is too important. Christine Drazan is too dangerous. Hold your nose and do it.

What got me to enthusiastically support @tinakotek.bsky.social this election is her turnaround on preschool for all. She got a lot of pushback for trying to undermine MultCo's PFA tax. She listened to advocates and is now advocating for a statewide PFA program funded by wealthy corporations.

Another cool visualization from WhosBuyingPDX.com is this one that shows the consulting firms/vendors that the business PACs are paying to push Portland’s doom loop messaging as well as the conservative candidates lending that messaging credibility.

An incredible turnout to elect climate champions! Climate Justice in our lifetimes means working together, across local jurisdictions, to hold oil and gas companies accountable and invest in clean energy, community resilience, and local adaptive capacity.

Very impressive data analysis and presentation by whichever nerds put this together. i wonder if in 2028 we could ask city council/mayoral candidates to take a pledge they’ll reject/return any check from any donor who gave money to any statewide republican

How many donations from Republicans does it take before it’s accurate to say someone is a corporate toady or a conservative do ya think? 🤔

This is also true of the vast majority of Democratic state legislators (and state officer holders), and it has been true for decades. I used to regularly run reports that looked at mutual donors to supposedly opposing candidates. The access buys are enough to make you sick. Virtually never refunded.

Pulled a recent post that showed the number of Republican donors for Kellie Torres because I'm applying a tighter restriction to my categorization so the number is 100% defensible and verifiable.
