yeah so this is a big Ricardo Ch 31 moment. the ouroboros of demand from ai tools qua chips better be enough to offset a loss in effective demand from living, breathing humans who buy stuff and soon will be buying much less.

Let's do it. Legislators need to hear from you if you support this!

Councilor Mitch Green@councilorgreen.bsky.social

Specifically on revenue reform, we are calling for: 1. Adoption of the kicker methodology bill that Rep. Gamba has carried 2. Taking on Measures 5 and 50 directly 3. Fully decouple from HR 1 We're also calling for action on local revenue measures under consideration by Council (i.e., Fair Share).

idk how you hear this and not make fixing our curse of granting massive tax cuts, exemptions and rebates to the wealthiest among us the highest priority in Oregon

The point is, it's hard to make sense of CoreWeave's financing troubles on the hypothesis that everybody else in the space is doing fine.

I’m very critical of Tina Kotek and people need to vote for her anyway. There’s no ranked choice in this race. The governor has the power to call in the national guard, or affect voting. That alone is too important. Christine Drazan is too dangerous. Hold your nose and do it.

this was is NYT btw

as you work through this really useful tool that shows how Republican donors also fund “moderates” in Portland, worth highlighting what Andre Hoan said about Portland’s liberal or progressive politics

PORTLAND!!!

Don't let the political and media establishment gaslight you. You aren't imagining things.

There is a conservative undercurrent in Portland politics and its well funded. Download a voter guide + social media graphics to spread the word! whosbuyingpdx.com

the chamber of commerce has run this town for decades. and yet they have the audacity to blame our issues on those of us in office for 20 months (plus anti Jo Ann and Chloe grievances). take ownership for your failures. be honest about your politics. i am.

advocating for fossil fuel companies, banks and other large corporations, against high wages, while holding up small biz as a shield has consequences. don’t let them hide behind labels like “practical progressive”

fwiw i fully acknowledge that i am middle-aged man. you get some of the worst outcomes in life when middle-aged men refuse to acknowledge they are, in fact, middle-aged men.

Having Jo Ann's endorsement means so much to me. She is literally the reason we have PCEF and Portland Street Response — two of the most important policies passed in Portland in decades. Her contributions to our city cannot be measured. Please wish Jo Ann a happy birthday, too! (1/2)

i used to know a good bit of mandarin. it would be cool to be able go beyond some pleasantries without creating an incredibly awkward larry david situation where everyone is just mad and disappointed i tried to speak mandarin

on a long enough timeline everyone accepts the warm embrace of the office of councilor green

willamette week slowly moves into the embrace of councilor mitch green, moving him up two places from sixth to fourth and above eli arnold who has been demoted to last place

two observations: 1. there are clearly two voting blocs. 2. the progressives compromise more often than the mods / conservatives, as evidenced by the darker gradient shading in the upper right corner quadrant

Okay this is an interesting view: how often councilors voted for items proposed by other councilors. On this measure I think Dan Ryan is kind of uniquely a hard-line factional voter.

Start with Mitch's thread. The Oregonian ed board reduced Tiffany to the equivalent of a background player with no lines or name. Our first unanimous vote on City Council was electing her our first VP. That unity was mirrored back in the work she took on in 2025 - bringing Council together.

i never expected the O to endorsement me, and I’m not surprised they only discussed the headlines they’ve chosen to make about me. but, i’m pissed about how they’ve reduced Tiffany’s contributions. she’s done more than anyone in our races to build a functioning council.

just thinking about how the house i lived in college had a board next to the landline phone with the names and phone numbers of all our friends we’d invite over for house parties. and then i felt old.

Remember when Tiffany was the lead fundraiser during the last election and didn’t even get an interview? I do. She made it anyway and I’m excited to serve a 4 year term with her 🩷💙

must be the same folks who placed billboards against me in east portland

It appears that a GOP Super PAC - running anti-Troy Jackson hits in the Maine Senate race - booked time in Portland…Oregon? #MESen

going into the the last 23 days of this campaign like “My day is 6 AM to noon, and I'm not crazy... my second day starts at noon and goes to 6 PM, and my third day goes from 6 PM to midnight.”

forum moderator: OK, give us your closing remarks. let us know how you’ll win. me: “What I have done is I have manipulated time, I now get 21 days a week. Stack that up over a month? I'm gonna kick your butt. Stack it up over a year? You're Toast.”

there was also basically no coverage of: - first ever oversight hearing re: admin not disclosing housing funds to council - failure to substantiate any of the claims to economic benefits for moda center deal. - failure to dig into project mt hood in a substantive way for example

pnwpolicyangel aka Angelita 👼@pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social

It’s wild that no other media outlet besides the Mercury is covering the Dan Ryan text saga…like, these lobbyists were calling councilors of color racial epithets. They called me a burrito. Meanwhile there were ten million stories about daddy gate, but crickets on this? Disparity in standards

and her list of accomplishments is extensive, not only among important amendments to the budget and pieces of legislation, but also legislation she’s led from her office. she was also the council vp during the fucking DHS occupation and held us all together during that period.

when you place the work of the city and body itself above your own ambition so often there’s always the risk that your achievements will be minimized. we should all be grateful she has taken that risk, because our city is better for it.

As a small business owner, I support the Fair Share Tax.

Councilor Mitch Green@councilorgreen.bsky.social

From accountants, to musicians, coffee and bagel shops, artists, business alliances, unions, faith leaders, and experts, we heard overwhelmingly supportive testimony for the Fair Share Tax today. It was loud and clear that Portlanders are ready for City Council to pass this, now let's get it done.
