What's wild is that, as somebody who has exhausted unemployment benefits, I no longer count in unemployment statistics despite being unemployed. So I know for absolute certainty that the number is bigger than 4.2% because it doesn't include me (and therefore likely thousands of others).

woof WASHINGTON (AP) โ€” US employers added a disappointing 29,000 jobs in September and the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.2%.

Just wild that Disney still can't figure out what to do with the Muppets despite the formulas for success being right in front of them: TV: Do the Muppet Show. Skits and a celebrity guest. Movies: Pick any public domain novel, make the cast Muppets, add an A-list actor. It's literally that easy.

DiscussingFilm@discussingfilm.net

There are currently no active conversations for a full โ€˜MUPPET SHOWโ€™ series revival. Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on. (Source: Deadline)

I applied to a job and got a response back, stating that I was being declined for being in the "wrong location" for the remote work to be performed in. I checked the job description and the location was "Remote (Global)". I guess I didn't clarify which globe they were talking about, so that's on me.

When people say theyโ€™re anti-AI, theyโ€™re clearly talking about generative AI in the arts and LLM slop that C-Suite jackoffs want to use to replace them. You know this. I know this. Everyone knows this. So the โ€œthen donโ€™t use spellcheck if you hate AIโ€ talking point is disingenuous horseshit.

I had to reopen The Site Formerly Known As Twitter to get a lot of D23 coverage this past weekend, and not only is it way past time for the Disney Parks fandom to move on from the site, but also they should maybe take an uncomfortable beat and reflect on why they're still there at all right now.

I left Twitter in 2023, when I realized that Elon's changes had made the site useless for me. I had a half million followers, but his new algorithm drove my engagement numbers down to nothing. I wasn't actually reaching anyone. I was just providing cover for Nazis. So I left. You can too. Honest!

On this day in 1974, US Senate votes to repeal permanent Daylight Saving Time, just seven months after it took effect. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Remind your senators today, only Standard Time can be permanent!

I simply cannot wrap my brain around the policy choices by establishment Dems. The easiest slam-dunk position in the upcoming election would be to promise to abolish something already incredibly unpopular, like ICE (not to mention that's just the morally correct thing to do).

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Jeffries stop short of committing to holding a vote to abolish ICE is he's House Speaker next January, but says he's "committed to dramatically reforming ICE ... the masks should come off, body cameras should come on, judicial warrants should be required."

I thought the presentation tonight was great! Sure there wasn't a huge splashy new land announcement with tons of concept art or anything. But considering how many projects are currently underway I felt really okay with it. Plus it was entertaining! And Disney is, you know, an entertainment company.

"I would have never thought the United States would act this way." YOU LITERALLY VOTED TO MAKE THE UNITED STATES ACT THIS WAY YOU SELF-CENTERED LEOPARD VOTER. THEY ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO ACT THIS WAY AND YOU SAID "YES GO AHEAD, PLEASE DO, I CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO ACT THIS WAY"

Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.
