lrp: they did that where i grew up, where my family is from. the witless local politicians and idiots are celebrating. there were shady dealings, alleged pressuring of authorities via threats. and the government is spreading cheeks for google for vague promises. it's infuriating and embarrassing.

man, i'm sad Pillowfort is shutting down. it had literally all the features people had been asking for and it allowed nsfw no problem. there was no algo trickery, had anti-ai attitude, good image quality, it worked via donations so advertiser nonsense didn't control it. it was a little safe haven. 😔

Every other creative industry con/event with panels now seemingly insists on having a panel about gen ai and the title is always essentially "ai - good or bad? 🤔" like can we stop pretending there might be some mysterious good side that isn't greed/laziness and somehow negates all the huge issues
